Every post where the site’s address does not include “.wordpress.com” has this problem and every site where the address does include “.wordpress.com” does NOT have this problem. This problem surfaced ONLY after version 16.0 of the iOS app was installed on my iPhone. There were no such problems before the update. So it’s pretty clear that whatever enhancements that were made to the reader in version 16.0 triggered the issues.
This time the response I got did not cite user error as the cause of the problem or blame it on my phone’s browser. In fact, the response I got was this…
Thanks! That is very helpful to try and replicate this problem. I’m sharing this with the rest of the team and we’ll jump into testing right away. As soon as we have an update we’ll keep you in the loop 🙂
So maybe, just maybe, a fix is in the works in the near future. Maybe.
In the meantime, if your blog does not have “.wordpress.com” in its address, I’m still unable to “like” or easily comment on your posts. Hopefully the issue that’s causing the problem will soon be rectified. Maybe.

Thanks for this info! I was wondering why I’m no longer able to “like” most posts collected as part of a prompt. The posts open but clicking “like” simply causes a bounce back to the post without highlighting the “liked” button.

It sounds like part of the problem is not being able to regress back to an old version of the app. But presumably that is a combination of WP and Apple.

🤔 Hmm. You are one of the paid WordPress plans. I do not understand the reason why you are experiencing that type of technical issue.

I read this last night after I’d ‘signed off’ and so am writing a perhaps too lengthy comment about it. I finally SEE. I have the exact same problem, mostly on sites that aren’t “wordpress.com” as I’ve mentioned to you before. I do, time to time, have the same issue on ALL sites though (mostly my own strangely enough) and this is the solution (that I found worked). You have to type a response to someone’s comment, post the comment (which might be tricky for you given it’s a different OS and all) and then all should open up FOR THAT POST. You can like and respond and run free. Pain in the rear? You betcha. I think the WordPress site fails to recognize people, even ones that are logged in and on their own damned patch. It’s aggravating. But if my solution works, hey. It’s a little something. Best wishes that ‘they’ fix it permanently.
