He Must Leave

I was hoping for a landslide victory for Joe Biden. Although it wasn’t a landslide, Biden did win both the popular vote and the Electoral College, so I was still filled with delight when the networks declared Biden to be the president-elect.

Unfortunately, with his obsession over not being labeled a loser, Trump refuses to concede defeat and the White House has directed his departments to not cooperate with the Biden transition team, thus denying them access to the daily intelligence briefings, which puts our national security at risk.

In addition, Trump has instructed his Cabinet heads to prepare their budgets for next year, which must be presented to Congress in February. As if he will still be the president at that time.

Clearly this covfefe-brained lunatic is trying, with no deft whatsoever, to subvert the will of the American people and to refuse to accept the results of the election. And the silence or support from the Republicans in Congress is deafening.

If Trump does not graciously accept the fact that Joe Biden won the election, concede defeat, and enable the peaceful transfer of power to the new administration, as every other president in the history of our nation has done, the man should immediately be removed from office, forcibly if necessary. If not, he will continue to disable and destroy the United States.

Truthful Tuesday — Post-Election

Frank, aka PCGuy, has published another one of his Truthful Tuesday posts. This week Frank wants to know how we feel in the aftermath of the U.S. presidential elections.

Have the results of the U.S. Presidential election left you feeling relieved, apprehensive, hopeful, or some other emotion?

Have you been surprised at all by the emotions and reactions of others regarding the results?

No, not really. Trump supporters probably feel today the same way that I, as someone who wanted to see Hillary Clinton win, felt after the 2016 election. And as a Biden/Harris supporter and someone who cherishes the American democracy, I can understand why so many Americans, including me, are thrilled and were dancing in the streets at the news of Trump’s defeat. Well, to be honest, since this is Truthful Tuesday, I wasn’t literally dancing in the streets. But I felt like dancing.

Dog Gone

We struggled over the past few months with the diminishing quality of life that our beloved dog was experiencing. Some days were okay, many were not. She spent much of each day sleeping, getting up only when she needed to go out to take care of business or to eat. And we often had to feed her by hand.

When she was up and around, she had difficulty walking, her hind legs unable to keep her backside from collapsing into an awkward sitting position.

Was she in a lot pain? Who knows? Like most dogs are, she was stoic. And if she was in pain, she never cried out or whimpered. We couldn’t ask her how she was feeling and she couldn’t tell us. Not in a way we could definitively understand. And not in a way that could give us any degree of certainty.

That’s what made our decision so difficult. Was it the right time? Were we prematurely taking away days, weeks, or even months from her life?

We spoke with our veterinarian, who came to our house yesterday afternoon. She confirmed that it was, indeed, time.

I suppose we’ll always second guess our decision, always feel a sense of guilt. But she’s gone now and we are heartbroken.

We miss her.

FOWC with Fandango — Landslide

FOWCWelcome to November 10, 2020 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “landslide.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
