    I went to a special event on the day a major decision we’d been waiting for in the Kavanaugh situation came down. That was a downer, but I had been planning ahead on going to this thing for some time. So, I went. Thinking it’d pick me up. I intended to meet some people. I didn’t realize, though, in the newness of grappling with what the hell the decision meant, how much the idea of the implications affected me. After mingling a while, the master of ceremonies and chief person of focus at that venue (and probably in a few other settings as well) was paying special attention to me. I had mixed feelings beyond what would be ordinary. It dawned on me that I had met this person before and spent time with him in college when I was seventeen (he liked me then too). I ended up walking away in an untimely manner. I still haven’t decided if it was a mistake to go anywhere that day.
