My Muse is MIA

It’s Friday. There are a lot of prompts and challenges today, like Jim Adams’ Friday Faithfuls, where he asks us to express our thoughts about whether or not time exists. And Paula Light’s TGIF, where she asks us to share our random thoughts about whatever random subject crosses our mind.

Rochelle Wisoff-Fields has her Friday Fictioneers prompt, where she presents a photo and asks us to respond with a post of 100 or fewer words.

And, of course, there are all of the daily word prompts that I usually respond to, like my FOWC with Fandango, The Daily Spur, Word of the Day Challenge, Your Daily Word Prompt, My Vivid Blog, Ragtag Daily Prompt, and E.M.’s Random Word Prompt. But I’m drawing a blank.

There are also poetry prompts, photography prompts, music prompts, wordle prompts, and other prompts designed to inspire and promote creativity. But for some reason, today I am uninspired. I’m so tired of politics that I can’t bear the thought of posting another political rant. Or to grouse about how the Christian nationalists are attempting to impose their beliefs on the rest of us by turning the U.S. from a secular democracy into a Christian theocracy. Nope, I’m not in the mood.

So here I am, uninspired, my muse is MIA. Maybe I’ll go take a nap and, upon awaking, my muse will be by my side once again.

Fibbing Friday — Color My World

Di (aka Pensitivity101) and Melanie (Sparks From a Combustible Mind) alternate as hosts for Fibbing Friday, a silly little exercise where we are to write a post with our answers to the ten questions below. But as the title suggests, truth is not an option. The idea is to fib a little, a lot, tell whoppers, be inventive, silly, or even outrageous, in our responses. This week it’s Melanie’s turn and she’s all about colors.

1. Unicorn gas allegedly contains this collection of colors.

This is a trick question. Everyone knows that unicorns don’t fart.

2. Yellow or green, most people eat a lot of these.

Snot and boogers.

3. Red as a?

Russian. Or these days, as a far-right Republican.

4. Gold and tawny, with huge teeth, you probably don’t want to meet me in a dark alley.

A vampire with bad dentures.

5. Elizabeth Taylor preferred her diamonds to be this color.

Green, like the color of money.

6. Autumn leaves are what color (multiple choice answer)?

Eventually they all turn brown.

7. Blue represents happiness for this avian.

A winged blue meanie.

8. Every cloud has a *insert color* lining.

Rainbow lining.

9. Someone who is very naïve, could be said to be as *insert color” as grass.

As brown as dead grass during a severe drought where watering a lawn is forbidden.

10. A Halloween moon, a delicious fruit, and something alleged really good for eyesight are what color? Bunnies love these.

Rose-colored glasses.

If you’ve been blogging for less than a year, go ahead and choose a post that you previously published on this day (the 7th) of any month within the past year and link to that post in a comment.

The Tinder Trap

“I’m looking for someone who has the same zest for life as I do. Someone who cares as much about the environment as I do. I love to travel and I’m a very adventurous soul.”

Chad saw Natalie’s’s picture and read her Tinder profile and wondered if this stunning young woman could be the elusive love of his life. He decided to swipe right and to compose his response.

“I’m seeking a life partner who shares my interests and priorities,” Chad wrote. “I want a woman who appreciates my beliefs, my politics, and my perspectives. I need a woman like you, whose physical attributes, strong libido, and insatiable sex drive can match my own. You’ll love the environment in my bedroom, where I can be extraordinarily adventurous. I also desire a woman who can keep a clean home and cook wonderful meals. I am so looking forward, Natalie, to getting to know you much better and much more intimately.”

Natalie read Chad’s response, which caused her such a blush that her whole face turned florid. She immediately swiped left.

Written for these daily prompts: Word of the Day Challenge (zest), The Daily Spur (environment), Daily Addictions (read), Ragtag Daily Prompt (elusive), Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (partner), and Your Daily Word Prompt (florid).

[For what it’s worth, I’ve never used Tinder and I’m not even sure this is how it works, but this is what I imagine it might be like.]

FOWC with Fandango — Vocation

FOWC

It’s October 7, 2022. Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “vocation.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. Show them some love.
