Share Your World — 10/25/2021

It’s almost the end of October and Melanie has given us a Share Your World edition with a Halloweenish theme. Here are this week’s questions.

Name something you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark forest or in an abandoned building.

As I wrote three years ago when Melanie previously asked this question, “Are you nuts? I wouldn’t be roaming around in a dark forest by myself or wandering alone into an abandoned building.”

Do you believe in multiple dimensions or worlds?

I believe that other worlds (i.e., planets) that are inhabited by intelligent life forms exist in the vastness of the universe, but I don’t believe that multiple dimensions beyond length, width, depth, and time exist. At least not in our world. That said, I did enjoy the musical group, the 5th Dimension, back in the 60s.

Would you ever go to a graveyard at night?

I can’t think of any reason for going to a graveyard at night.

What is the most frightening book you’ve ever read?

I was going to say The Shining by Stephen King, but these days, I find books like Peril by American journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, along with Woodward’s other two recent books, Fear and Rage, about the Trump presidency, to be really scary. These books show the fragility of the American democracy and the damage done by Trump and his enablers, damage that continues to this day.

BONUS QUESTION (just for silliness’ sake!)

If you could have a spooky Halloween pet (black cat, owl, bat, rat, wolf), which would you pick out of the five choices?

This is easy, as we already have a black cat!

Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #141

Welcome to Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge. Each week I will be posting a photo I grab off the internet and challenging bloggers to write a flash fiction piece or a poem inspired by the photo. There are no style or word limits.

The photo below is from Natalya Vaitkevich @ Pexels.com.

For the visually challenged writer, the photo shows a woman in what might be a gallery or an artist’s studio staring forlornly out of a window.

If this week’s image inspires you and you wish to participate, please write your post, use the tag #FFFC, and link back to this post. I hope it will generate some great posts.

FOWC with Fandango — Better

FOWC

Welcome to October 25, 2021 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “better.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
