Rivalries

I’m a big baseball fan and my two favorite teams are the Boston Red Sox and the San Francisco Giants.

I lived in the Boston area for about 20 years before moving to San Francisco 12 years ago. And as a baseball fan, one of my fantasies has been for the Red Sox, representing the American League, and the Giants, representing the National League, to meet up in the World Series. And this year, there is a possibility that I will realize my fantasy.

One of baseball’s biggest rivalries is between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.

Both teams ended the 2021 season a few days ago with 90-72 record and tonight they square off in the American League Wild Card Game. The winner will move on to face the AL East winner, the Tampa Bay Rays. The 2021 season will be over for the loser of tonight’s contest.

The other big baseball rivalry is between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Giants had the best record in baseball, 107-55, but the Dodgers were right behind them with a record of 106-56. Because the Giants won the AL West, the Dodgers will play the St. Louis Cardinals tomorrow in the NL Wild Card game. The Dodgers are highly favored.

Right now I’d say it’s a long shot that the Red Sox and the Giants will meet in the World Series later this month. But one can dream, right?

Fandango’s Story Starter #14

It’s time for my weekly Story Starter prompt. Here’s how it works. Every Tuesday morning (my time), I’m going to give you an incomplete “teaser” sentence and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to build a story (prose or poetry) around that partial sentence. It doesn’t have to be the first sentence in your story, and you don’t even have to use it in your post at all if you don’t want to. The purpose of the teaser is simply to spark your imagination and to get your storytelling juices flowing

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

I heard the music as I entered the room, but all that was there…

If you care to write and post a story built on this teaser, be sure to link back to this post and to tag your post with #FSS. I would also encourage you to read and enjoy what your fellow bloggers do with this teaser.

And most of all, have fun.

FOWC with Fandango — Quash

FOWC

Welcome to October 5, 2021 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “quash.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
