Gatewayer57 is Real!

I owe Gatewayer57 an apology. In a post earlier today, I questioned whether Gatewayer57 was a real person. In fact, I was pretty sure she was either a spammer or a bot. Why? Because I received 43 likes in a row, each on a different post. And not a single comment! Plus, when I clicked on her avatar, it was a dead end.

But it appears that I was mistaken. Gatewayer57 is a real person, not a spammer or a bot. In fact, after my post was published, she commented:

So let me publicly offer my apologies to you, Gatewayer57, for having assumed that you weren’t a real person. My mistake. Thank you for reading my blog and for liking my posts.

SoCS — Rock It To Me

I was listening to Elton John’s “Crocodile Rock” on my iPhone the other day when my doorbell proceeded to ring. I opened the door to see my friend Brock standing there wearing a frock. He was very excited to tell me that he had just procured impossible to get tickets for a live concert by my favorite rock ‘n roll group, Atrocious, on Saturday night.

I told him that was a crock, as the concert had been sold out for months and that the price of tickets from brokers had skyrocketed. But he proclaimed that he had a process that enabled him to get the tickets at a reasonable price even for those like us who had procrastinated.

“The only catch,” he said as he handed me a brochure for a gaming laptop with a blazingly fast microprocessor, “is that I want you to reciprocate by using your connections at the microchip company you work at to get me a big discount. Can you do that?”

“Of course I can,” I answered. “Being there and doing things for one another is the bedrock of our friendship, Brock.”

This little bit of silliness was written for Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. If you haven’t already figured it out by now, Linda has asked us to find a word (or words) with “roc” in it (or them) or use it as a word all by itself.

FOWC with Fandango — Uncanny

FOWCWelcome to May 22, 2021 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “uncanny.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
