The Letter O

Deb, over at Nope, Not Pam, has this weekly challenge called A Letter a Week where she gives us a place, an emotion, an adjective, a verb, and an animal all starting with the same letter. Then she asks us to write a post using those items and the letter she has given us, which this week is the letter O.

Here are Deb’s O-words:

Place – ocean
Emotion – oblivious
Adjective – odd
Verb – obligate
Animal – ostrich

I was on the beach by the ocean when I saw an ostrich, it’s head buried in the sand. I know that ostriches are known for burying their heads in the sand to avoid predators, but I always thought it was just a myth.

I thought it was odd that no one else seemed to take notice of this ostrich with its head buried in the sand. Everyone seemed totally oblivious to this strange sight.

I felt obligated to notify someone in charge of what I was seeing and I frantically looked around until I found a policeman. “Come quickly,” I pleaded with the officer, “there is an ostrich with its head buried in the sand over there.” I pointed in the direction of the ostrich.

The cop looked at me. “Are you on drugs?” He asked me. The he grabbed my arm and pulled me in the direction of the ostrich with its head in the sand. “Is this what you called me over to see?”

“Oh, my bad, officer,” I said. “From a distance it looked real to me.”
