“This is ridiculous. Send her a text,” my wife said. So I texted her this:
Annette,
We appreciate what you did for us, and we love the plants and other little gifts you bring by. That’s very kind of you. But you sold us this house and we moved in two months ago. We’re settled in and there’s no need for you to stop by everyday to see how we’re doing. You were our real estate agent, and a very good one, but you’re not our friend. If we ever decide to sell this house, we’ll call you. In the meantime, don’t call us. Don’t drop by. Enough is enough.
Regards,
Carl and Eileen
An hour later, our doorbell rang. “Guess who!” She said. “I love your new doormat. It’s a hoot!”

When I bought my house in Flemington, the Real Estate agent sent us gifts for years.

They’re wanting to hook you in for if or when you next sell.

We got a housewarming parcel: 2 mugs, 2 teaspoons, a jar of coffee and a packet of tea bags. Nice thought, and I still have the mugs!

The gifts would be nice. We’ve noticed that now there are tons of random texts and emails offering cash for the house. There is no way to separate the scammers from the real real estate people, but then in today’s housing market if you sold you better have your next residence all lined up first.

My oldest son and his wife just sold their house and are going to rent while they look for another house. I wouldn’t do it that way. They just wanted to get the heck out.

I wouldn’t call that person for any reason — including to be my agent even if I were going to sell the house. That said, the agents (a married couple) who were involved in the sale of the house I consider my home have left wrapping paper and tape at the front door each year ever since and offered pies for Thanksgiving to their customers or potential customers in real estate representation who want to come get them. They don’t knock or hang around any other time or even call. I’d call them, if I wanted an agent.
As for the agent who showed one of my sons and me houses before we bought one (not one that I live in at all so far), I wouldn’t call her. And she hasn’t tried to keep in contact. She’s not good at her job. She was a pushover in relation to the counterpart agents representing the sellers. She was lazy when my son and I decided to make an offer. And, in the end, both she and the seller’s agent took a cut out of their commissions because they didn’t see to it that the sellers didn’t remove non-removable features.

It’s a creativity fitting story you came up with, for the photo. And a decent text message.

Lol! This is hilarious. And some just see through things, even people and their doormats. 🙂

There is a fine line between wooing clients and being a stalker. Ha, ha, ha!
