Today’s word is “float.”

    When I saw your word, I thought of this song. It could easily be called by the monicker of floating, instead of only skating. Then I was reminded that “float” and “glide” are actually in the lyrics too. I feel like an aura of floating was more in the air for the era this music hearkens back to, more so than skating. Remember the flowy clothes (and golden glowing hair) of some supermodels in the seventies? Well, anyway, it was more what I felt than any focus on skating to disco music (although a rink with well-produced music was not something that never happened in my life). Roller skating (metal wheels rather than wood) in home neighborhoods (with cousins) on concrete sidewalks and ice skating at city parks (with my family) and even going to a disco for teens (with a friend) are actually fond memories of mine. When roller skating outside, there were no musical sources, no boom boxes and no isolating iPods yet… of course, no drum kits set up either. But getting out in new ways is of the moment today. So, this is a fusion of different memories into a refreshed sense of light.
