MLMM Photo Challenge — A Second Life

“It was obvious to me as soon as I saw them,” Alan said. “They we’re just going to junk these old boats and use the wood for scrap, so I offered to salvage three of them at no cost and to convert their hulls into dwellings for the homeless.”

“What a terrific idea,” Jonathan said.

“I outfitted each one with two bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower, and a kitchenette,” Alan explained, “and a small common room with a dining table, a love seat, and two chairs.”

“Wow, that’s impressive,” Jonathan said. “So what happened?”

“I’ve invited members of the city council out here to take a look at these as prototypes, hoping that they would be as impressed as you are and give me a contract to make more in order to help address the epidemic of homelessness the city is trying to deal with.”

“And?”

Alan sighed. “They weren’t interested.”

“Why the hell not?” Jonathan asked. “It’s brilliant. You’re addressing a serious problem by offering a better life for the homeless and giving a second life to these old boats.”

“Yeah, well,” Alan said, “the majority of the city council members are Republican.”

Jonathan shook his head. “Say no more, my friend. Say no more.”

Fandango’s Provocative Question #147

FPQ

Welcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration.

By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.

What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.

I know that, with the way things are in the world and in my country these days, I’ve been feeling disheartened, disappointed, disillusioned, frustrated, and even angry. I sense that there are quite a few others who may be feeling, for reasons of their own, the same way.

So I thought I’d ask a question that might help you focus on the good and the positive aspects of your life. My provocative question this week is…

What’s the best thing you’ve got going on in your life at the moment?

If you choose to participate, write a post with your response to the question. Once you are done, tag your post with #FPQ and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments. But remember to check to confirm that your pingback or your link shows up in the comments.

FOWC with Fandango — Jet

FOWC

Welcome to December 8, 2021 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “jet.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
