Do you use Tags on your blog posts, and do you find them a practical resource for you or your readers?

Yes, I use tags on my posts, but more for myself than for others. I use tags to search my posts to see if I’ve previously posted using specific words or names. For example, in Jim Adams’ Song Lyric Sunday prompts, I always tag the post with the artist’s name so that I can search my old posts to see if I previously used any songs by that artist. Or if I want to know if I’ve recently posted about a particular topic in the news (e.g., abortions, mass shootings), I’ll search for my posts with relevant tags).

It’s also interesting to see the tag cloud associated with my blog.

Do you think your readership takes any notice of the Tags you have added to your published content?

That’s a good question. For those of my readers who are reading this post, do you take any notice of the tags on my posts? Let me know in the comments.

If you are a regular ‘user’ of Tags, do you randomly add them or very specifically optimise their use with your content?

Why would anyone just randomly add tags to their posts? My tags are specific to the content of each post. They’re not to “optimize” anything. Just to remind myself the key items the post covers.

The Affair

“I don’t mean to flaunt my skills,” Jack said, basking in the glory of his win, “but I really slayed you in our tennis match this morning.”

“Oh perish the thought that you’d be gracious about it,” Anna said, a distinct frost in her voice.

“Okay, let’s put it all on the table, Anna,” Jack said. “You’ve been a real bitch lately. You used to love my antics and my braggadocio, but now you seemed to have totally lost your sense of humor.”

“You want me to lay it all out for you, Jack?” Anna said, her eyes filling with tears. “You killed my sense of humor when you started messing around on me with Monica.”

“You know about that?” Jack asked, stunned.

“Oh Jack, you think you’re so smart and so sly, but you’re the prototypical narcissist. I’d have to have a mental malfunction to have missed the signs of your affair with that jezebel. Let me give you some advice, Jack. If you’re going to cheat on someone, make sure the person you’re cheating with doesn’t douse herself in cheap perfume when you’re seeing her. She’s such a whore.”

“How long have you known?”

“Pretty much since you started your dalliance a few months ago, but I figured it was just a one-nighter that guys with an ego like yours have. But you come home from work — or wherever you actually are — with her stench all over you two or three times a week. I’m not an idiot, Jack.”

“So what now, Anna?” Jack asked. “Are you going to divorce me?”

“Don’t be silly, Jack,” Anna said, a wry smile replacing her tears. “Your affair with that hussy is the best thing that’s happened in my life in years. When I realized it was more than a one-night-stand, I called and arranged to meet with her husband to let him know what our loving spouses were doing behind our backs. Did you know that he teaches tennis at the Westhaven Tennis Club? Frank and I immediately connected, and let me tell you, Jack, he is an Adonis who could not only whip your ass on the tennis court, but he makes you look like a total amateur between the sheets.”

My Last Photo — November ‘21

So here’s the last photo I took on my iPhone in November.

My wife and I were on our morning walk yesterday and she asked me to stop and take a picture of the tall, decorative grasses growing in the front yard of a house along the route. So I did, no questions asked. By the time we got home from our walk, neither of us remembered that she had asked me to take that picture. Later, when I decided to use that photo for Brian’s prompt, I reminded her that she had asked me to take the picture, held up my iPhone and showed it to her, and asked her why she wanted me to take the picture. She looked at the photo, shrugged her shoulders, and said, “I have no idea.”

Welcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration.

By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.

What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.

I know you’ve heard this question before, and maybe you’ve even been asked and answered it before. But I thought I’d ask it anyway because I’d like to hear what you think and, more important, why you feel that way. Also, because I feel like my brain is fried and I was unable to come up with anything more, well, provocative.

So here’s my question this week.

In your opinion, is it better to be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond? Or perhaps a big fish in a big pond? Why do you feel that way?
