Question Time Over Coffee — 11/12 Edition

Rory, over at Earthly Comforts, has once again posed a number of intriguing questions this morning. Let’s see if I can come up with some equally intriguing answers.

You have 11 minutes free time, how do you spend it best with regards entertainment?

Woo hoo! Eleven whole minutes of free time? I’d probably spend ten minutes trying to decide what to do with all that free time and the last minute fretting that I don’t have any time left for entertainment.

Are you a fan of feet either yours or others or are you averse feet?

I’m a fan of my feet most of the time, but not so much when I have to clip my toenails. I have to contort my body into impossible positions to accomplish that dreaded task. As to other people’s feet, I’m neither fan nor foe.

When you are wrong and you know you are wrong do you admit to being wrong or try and find a right for your wrong?

I may not always be right, but I’m never wrong.

Are you more of a night owl or a morning lark?

Definitely not a night owl. I’m an early to bed, early to rise kind of a guy. And, I’m fairly healthy, passably wise, but, sadly, not very wealthy.

Do you listen to audiobooks and if so what is the appeal? How many do you get through every month?

I’ve never listened to an audiobook, so the answer is I get through none a month.

Do you bore quickly and if so why and how do you combat it. And if not, how do you avoid that boredom?

I do get bored quickly. Why? I dunno. I just do. And when I’m bored, I move on to do something else. Either that or go take a nap.

What is one thing that you wish your readers knew about you and your blog?

How incredibly sexy I am. 🤓

What items do you have on the top shelf of your fridge right now, today?

Milk, Caffeine Free Diet Coke, water, left over tuna salad, beer, hard seltzer, Red Bull, and yogurt. (The hard seltzer and Red Bull is for my daughter and her husband when they stop by. I can’t stand that stuff.)

Are you able to stand on one leg for 25 seconds?

I don’t know and I can’t imagine why I would even want to try.

What are your favorite book titles from the following six categories?
[One item only per genre please – use alternative genre if first choice is not your style]

Comedy or Children’s literature — “Dave Barry is Not Making This Up” by Dave Barry
Horror or Historical Fiction — “Shogun” by James Clavell.
Mystery or Memoir — “The Silence of the Lambs” by Thomas Harris
Thriller or Adventure“Misery” by Stephen King
Romance or Poetry
— Sorry, but I’m not a fan of either romance novels or books of poetry.
Fantasy or Sci-Fi — “Lord of the Rings” by JRR Tolkien or “The Foundation” series by Isaac Asimov (I know, I went with both for these genres)

What twelve items would you take to a deserted island if you were going to be stranded there for twelve months and why those items – how are they functional to your survival? [You cannot take people, or any means of escape, and there is no Internet access or electricity]

  • A frying pan to cook fish or wild game
  • A pot for boiling water
  • A knife to cut my food
  • A fork to eat my food
  • An ax to chop wood
  • A giant bag of ground coffee
  • A large box of matches to light fires for cooking and warmth
  • A tin cup for my coffee
  • A tin plate to put my food on
  • A plastic glass to drink fresh water
  • A fishing pole to catch fish with
  • A rifle to shoot wild game for food

Does the society of today need social media platforms? Are they dying – as is suggested – off or are people simply after something else that is socially oriented but more personable?

I honestly don’t know how to answer this question because I’m not a big user of social media and I personally could do without social media at all. But that’s just me. Others may feel very differently.

Are his feet sexy Paula? He throws his sexy eyes at us but is he game to with his feet? Give it the ‘treatment’ they might pass. I challenge him to replace his eyes with his feet. Just once would be OK Fan………

Nope. I opened the double doors and took the shot. Nothing arranged in advance. I certainly would have hidden the Red Bull had I done so.

I do believe you. Skip says I’m telling the truth……I’ve trained him from a joey to always tell the truth. His reward now is a plentiful supply of beer……

Well if Skip says it, it must be true.

I think the audience for social media is getting bored. Whether something new will takeover or they’ll head into reality for a diversion who knows. All that is certain is someone will try to profit unfairly from it

I think group virtual reality (VR) will be the next big thing. You heard it here first.

I have always suspected you to be a sexy beasty hunk of a man, l never wanted to ask you, but NOW, now you have admitted to it, when l die, l will die happy and knowledgeable 🙂

    Fabulous answers Sexyman!

Great booklist too, many of yours are on my own reading lists. Shogun was always a huge favourite. I remember starting that when l was in my last year of living in Australia 1977 and finishing it in 1978. It was with my hand luggage when we sailed over to England. It was a huge book at 1200 pages or something and my parents thought they had produced some kind of oddity as l was only 14 when l started it. But l followed the series through my teenager years to my aduthood and read all the Asian Saga books written by Clavell.

Well l know l’d be catered to properly on your deserted island 🙂

With you never being wrong how can any of ever be right.

Good answers Fandango, nicely done, always a touch of humour to be had.

I enjoyed reading your answers. You can certainly pack a lot onto the top shelf of your fridge. I think mine has about five things on it, two kinds of margarine, yogurt, custard and eggs.

Ugh I forgot matches to light the fire AND a can opener. I’m dead on that deserted island in less than a month. I love your book choices. Loved your answers.

I loved that you put the Foundation series although I preferred the first three books to the latter ones.

Yes, I agree. The initial trilogy was the best. Got a bit tedious after that.

I felt that he was contradicting himself by the end but then the later books came forty or fifty years after the first ones and maybe his views had changed.

I think you would survive well with those items on the island. All good answers, had to laugh at the standing on one leg one! 😂
