Sunday Six Sentence Story — Light and Airy

I try to keep things light and airy in my posts and to infuse at least a hint of humor and wit in them.

It’s my way of escaping the gloom and doom of a reality that weighs heavily upon me.

It’s my mental mechanism to push back into the recesses of my mind the political insanity that is raging all around me.

Keep it bright, keep it airy, keep it chipper I say to myself, perhaps naively.

Try to avoid, I remind myself, going toward the dark path that those, whose values are so markedly different from my own, are leading others down.

But it’s hard to follow the light when it seems to be growing dimmer and more distant with each passing day.

By virtue of your story, you’ve made it a little bit brighter, Fandango.
“Humor and wit (I need not tell you), appear to me to be quickly disappearing.
A harbinger for certain of a world that seems to have gone off the rails.

“Keep it bright, keep it airy”? Hear! Hear! If that is naiveté, count me in.

    Welcome to Six Sentence Stories.

I have to say I agree with you. We are slowly fading into the dark. Gone is the light, every growing dimmer.

If we look at the political situation, the light is indeed getting dimmer

One way to avoid doom and gloom is to not listen to the news. But that won’t really help unless you have something else to listen to that brings joy without worry. Forgiveness helps. Best wishes.

    (What Frank sez…)

I’m one of them with that insatiable ‘No way they are saying/doing/expressing (fill in the blank with news of the ‘real’ world).

As certain friends say, Abstinence is the only sane approach.

News is hardly news anymore; it’s political bias and point scoring. As some have eluded to, filters firmly in place help keep my mood balanced. I’ve also banned the evening news during mealtime.

Agreed. The gloom is encroaching. Our only defense is to find other bright lights and gather together, a lantern of hope. Together, we got this!

So important for us to carry our own light within as the world grows dimmer by the day.

This world has always been a dark and scary place, history shows it. It’s always been light and joy from another source which helps.
