WDP — America’s Future

Daily writing prompt
What bothers you and why?

Had this been yesterday’s WordPress Daily Prompt, I would have responded with this post. I’m not going to repeat here what I posted yesterday, but what I wrote about in that post is what is currently bothering me the most. And that is, if Donald Trump wins the presidential election in 2024 and enough Republicans ride his coattails to take full control of Congress, that will be the beginning of the end of our American system of democracy.

If you’re interested in why I’m bothered by that, read the post I provided a link to above. If not, take my word for it. It should bother every one of us who cherishes democracy over autocracy in our country

Truthful Tuesday — Dinner Party

Di, of Pensitivity101, is our host for Truthful Tuesday. This week Di is asking about having friends over for dinner. Here’s what Di wants to know:

You are having a few friends over for a dinner party. Do you let them know the menu in advance (in case of any allergies or dislikes), or prepare a three course meal with wine for each course and hope everyone enjoys it?

The good news is that we rarely have dinner parties. The bad news is that our daughter is a vegetarian, as is our son’s wife. And our son’s father-in-law is a vegan. Hence, if we have do have a dinner party and our daughter, our daughter-in-law, and her father are among the invitees, we have to make sure we serve meals that they can eat.

On those rare occasions that we invite people over for dinner and don’t already know about any special dining requirements, we have no problem asking them in advance to let us know.

Fandango’s Story Starter #106

It’s time for my weekly Story Starter prompt. Here’s how it works. Every Tuesday morning (my time), I’m going to give you a “teaser” sentence or sentence fragment and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to build a story (prose or poetry) around that sentence/fragment. It doesn’t have to be the first sentence in your story, and you don’t even have to use it in your post at all if you don’t want to. The purpose of the teaser is simply to spark your imagination and to get your storytelling juices flowing.

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

“What in the world could have possessed you to do what you did?” she asked.

If you care to write and post a story built from this teaser, be sure to link back to this post and to tag your post with #FSS. I would also encourage you to read and enjoy what your fellow bloggers do with their stories.

And most of all, have fun.

FOWC with Fandango — Word

FOWC

Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “word.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. Show them some love.
