Share Your World — 8-16-2021

Melanie is doing something different with her Share Your World prompt today. She’s leverage some questions that the blogger known as Evil Squirrel has asked over a four week period and is asking them here in her own Share Your World post. So let’s see what Evil Squirrel wants to know.

When you just need to forget the world for a few hours, what helps you get away from it all?

I eat a Mellows (cannabis-infused marshmallow) and binge-watch nature shows on TV.

If you woke up tomorrow with a unicorn horn extending from the top of your head, what would be the biggest advantage and disadvantage of your new appendage?

No advantages whatsoever. I’d set up an emergency appointment with a dermatologist to have the damn thing removed immediately.

What is the creepiest thing you’ve ever seen someone do, that you’d be willing to talk about, of course?

When I see someone picking their nose and eating whatever it is that they dug out of it. Well, maybe that’s more gross than creepy, but that’s all I can come up with on short notice.

What’s the silliest or pettiest thing that tends to really upset you?

When I’m watching something on TV and the sound (audio) and picture (video) are out of sync. I hate that. It drives me crazy.

Melanie’s gratitude question — How comfortable are you with meeting others who are very different from yourself? No judgment implied. Different in any way you’d like to think about – different cultures, different races, different mind set (opinions).

I’m fine with meeting others from different cultures, races, religions, or whatever who are different from me. Well, except for Trump supporting MAGA-maniacs or far-right Republicans. They can go fuck themselves as far as I’m concerned.

As for the last gratitude question, would I be willing to MARRY one? Oh, right, I did that already — rather more than 30 years ago.

When I do that, it just makes it worse. I have to start all over watching whatever it is. So I’m left with the choice of either not watching but listening to the dialogue alone OR starting the whole show over. Sometimes it’s really not worth the bother either.

You’re right, if it doesn’t fixes itself, it’s too tedious to watch.

My answer to the last question is very much like yours.* However, I will tell you what I just told someone like a half hour ago… it just dawned on me in the moment. I think being “a conservative” IS pushing things you’re not for, that that’s what it is. I think that’s the definition. (This comes out of bitter disillusionment with the hypocrisy. But I know there are some people of principle, they just don’t count in the “scheme of things.” So… I get having some conservative values [and that’s me]. But joining up politically us bullshit.)

    * I was thinking, “I like all kinds of people.” 🙂 And then I kept thinking… 🤨

Why is there always a stupid “autocorrected” misspelling? I hate that. Correction: is bullshit.

Thanks for Sharing Your World, Fandango! Very well spoken and straight to the point answers! I suppose it would look very odd to see an man of your distinguished years sporting a unicorn horn. Your solution is very wise. You and Marilyn shared the same ‘iggy’ thing, only she worked with the picker person. Eww. You never know where you’re going to see that though (not the gobbling down the ‘snack part, but the mining for gold where everyone can see you doing that)..I once worked with an Associate Professor (which is one step down from a full fledged professor, who was at a stop sign on campus just mining away. I never could look at that doctor again the same way. *bleah* I touched on that whole annoying sync thing under Sadje’s comment. That has to be one of the biggest annoyances out there. I learned the stuff they do to create sound tracks for video when I was in graphic school, and it’s not hard to line them up PRECISELY, so someone obviously doesn’t care about the quality of what they’ve made. O_o Seems a good way to get the boot out the door if that’s your job. Have a really winning week! I’m looking forward to today’s “Story Starter” too! 🙂

Cannabis infused marshmallows…. that’s a new one on me! Now I wish I had a marshmallow prop to give Fuzzywig. The video/audio out of synch thing irritates me as well… there are so many music videos on YouTube that have this issue.

With a unicorn horn you could be the center of attention at a ring toss party game. Ha, ha, ha!
