Dr. Tanya has decided to change things up a bit for her weekly Blogging Insights prompt. Instead of using the Q&A format, she’s going to provide us with a quote about blogging or writing and ask us to express our opinion about said quote.
Here’s this week’s quote.
“One small positive blog post in the morning can change your whole day.”
My morning routine generally includes reading the posts that bloggers I follow posted overnight while I was sleeping, reading my newsfeed on my iPhone, and perusing my local morning paper.
The sad news is that much of what I read during my morning routine is upsetting, frustrating, and maddening. If someone does post a humorous or positive post, I may get a brief smile on my face or maybe even a chuckle, but that doesn’t last long when it’s in the middle of a sea of depressing stories.
“One small positive blog post” in a morning filled with mostly bad, negative news gets lost in the shuffle. So I’d say my analysis of Tanya’s quote for today is that reading such a post doesn’t exactly change or make my day.

Yeah. Unless I make a huge effort to avoid most media, the negative shit hangs over my day like a smelly cloud. Seems the news is always catastrophic and people are always bitching about something, including me. I mean, I also bitch, not that people are bitching about me. Ooh, maybe they are! 😳😳😳

I have been avoiding the news like the plague, oh wait, they are the same thing right now. It is terribly depressing to read such horrors. Friends and family do send me some things they think I need to read. I do, and I appreciate the filtered news. Information is better than misinformation, it’s just so frustrating right now.

I just briefly scan headlines and stay aware, and mostly don’t go down the path of wallowing (I used to). I’m not sure it makes my day better-but i’m trying to focus on things I can change.

Yup. I think the most we can hope to do as writers is to raise a smile.
Some of the people I talk to for my charity stuff, they are depresses. And I realise that the most I can do is to make them feel “not depressed”, by having a laugh and a smile. But I’m acutely aware that this effect lasts simply for the duration of the conversation, that’s it. Blogging is similar, I think.

When my depression is bad I take a break from the news, it can be a bit much! I have had a few positive posts I have read the gave me a little lift… it does not last all day though.
