One-Liner Wednesday — Cats

“In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this.”

Author Terry Pratchett

Pratchett’s quote about cats being worshipped as gods reminds me of something someone once told me about the difference between cats and dogs.

A dog looks at you and thinks to himself, “You feed me, you shelter me, you love me. You must be God!” A cat looks at you and thinks to himself, “You feed me, you shelter me, you love me. I must be God!”

I love my kitty, but I definitely see the appeal of a doggie. They’re so much more of a companion because you can take them places. A cat hates going anywhere.

That is true. Our dog loves to go for a ride in the car. Our cat hates it!

I can confirm. I have a Queenie cat and a court jester who likens himself to a King. And me, I am the humble servant.

    It’s funny.

    It’s also thought-provoking.

There have been times when I figured out a person was looking at things completely differently from what I thought was the agreement, even if we were in the same political organization or whatever it was we did that seemed to be focused on thought. Like world-changingly different. But we were supposedly allies or partners, or friends… or…

Cats even had their own Goddest named Bast. Those of us who follow the earth-centered religions still worship her as she protects the fur gods that own us and allow us to care for them

Ah Bast, the ancient Egyptian goddess of protection and cats.

*To her glory all crinkle toys shall be given
*To her love all belly rubs are done with caution and permission (boggles my mind how many people think all cats like belly rubs. THEY DON’T)
*To her protection are all dark corners and hidden spaces
        * Secret hidey-holes for ALL her toys as cats have no pockets.

Ab-so-lute-ly. I read this attitude in my kitty’s eyes every single day — and yet she’s still adorable as all get out.

“and yet she’s still adorable as all get out.” That’s their secret weapon!

We actually had a cat that behaved more like a dog—perhaps because he was “raised” from when he was a tiny kitten by our collie/shepherd mix. They were devoted friends, and I miss them both.

I had a cat more like a dog, too. He was a chocolate-point Siamese (generally seen as more like dogs among cats).
