Reblog — Warning: Rant Follows

Yes, Carol, at Wanderings of an Elusive Mind, has posted a political rant. But I think the points Carol made in her rant are very salient and highly pertinent as we get closer to November’s presidential election.

I would like to add something to a point Carol made about our Supreme Court. She wrote, “At least two of our Supreme Court justices [Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas] have demonstrated partiality.” I would like to add the fact that three other justices, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, were Trump appointees, and Chief Justice John Roberts, appointed by Republican George W. Bush, seems inclined to go along with the positions taken by the other more coservative justices on the Court.

I guess that on November 5th we will get our answer to Carol’s closing question about American voters: “ DOES ANYONE CARE?”

So – one court has spoken. One jury has rendered its verdicts – 34 of them. A new entry for the history books has been recorded. And yet – the …

My response to such rants is what political strategist Simon Rosenberg (who was one of very few who were right that there would be no red wave in 2022) says: “Do more; worry less.” There are zillions of grass roots organizations working diligently throughout the US that most people don’t hear about. People can volunteer for the campaigns of candidates they support. A few dollars multiplied by many donors helps candidates win in close elections.

If we all do a little bit more this year, we may well be able to hold the White House and the Senate and win back the House. And then we can, as I write repeatedly, EXPAND THE DAMN COURT!

Obama shouldn’t have been so genteel. He should’ve made a nomination regardless of fucking McConnell (or the senate) acting like an ass; being.

    Thank you for the reblog.

To AnnieAsksYou, I agree wholeheartedly that we have to do everything we can to gain control – my problem is that I am not happy with any of the presidential candidates – I am weary of old men being in charge and I’d really like to see candidates that might have a chance of relating to what life is really like for most of us. Can they truly understand what it’s like down here, to try to pay the costs of living – grocery costs, medical costs, standard costs of living? Can any of them relate to trying to live on a pension or social security? And do any of them know what the word “Compromise” means? Have they even heard of working for the people, for the country? Or is it all about the lobbyists for them, and their particular political party?
