Who Won The Week? 8/18/19

10CC3057-4EEA-4C80-B8C1-700C0FC6C906Last week I introduced the Who Won the Week prompt. It was met with limited success. But sometimes these things take a while to catch on, so I thought I’d give it another shot.

The idea behind Who Won the Week is for you to select who you think won the week. Your selection can be anyone or anything — politicians, celebrities, athletes, authors, bloggers, your friends or family members, books, movies TV shows, businesses, organizations, whatever.

I will be posting this prompt on Sunday mornings (my time). If you want to participate, write your own post designating who you think won the week and why you think they deserve your nod. Then link back to this post and tag you post with FWWTW.

My selection for this week is the country of Greenland. I admit that I rarely think about Greenland, and it’s not because nobody from Greenland has ever visited my blog. However, Greenland has been in the news recently because of concerns for its rapidly melting glaciers due to climate change.

But this week we found out that Donald Trump has his eyes on Greenland. He wants to grab it by its resources and he believes that when you’re President, you can do that. Yes, the orange moron wants to buy Greenland.

Greenland, a Danish territory, has strategic value in terms of military activity and natural resources. So, deal maker Trump has decided he wants to make America great again by buying it.

But Greenland resoundingly rebuffed Trump’s landmass grab-ass desires and said no way.30C76BCF-C713-4463-9CCF-B89E634984EFYou go, Greenland. Tell Donald Trump to go pound sand. You get my vote for Who Won the Week.

So tell us. Who do you think won the week?

Well, you picked a quiet time to launch – all the politicians are on holiday here so the news is very quiet. If pushed I’d go for Greta Thunberg, who’s coming to you across the Atlantic on a carbon-neutral yacht. Good for her, if she thinks she’ll make a difference. I don’t fly either these days, but my solution is just not to travel.

On Greenland, btw, do you evet think they just invent a dumb story and put it out there, just for a laugh at the public’s reaction

Your conjecture wouldn’t surprise me. Something to divert everyone’s attention from what is happening behind the curtain.

🤔 Hmm. I was planning to move to Greenland. I guess that I will have to squash those plans!

A perfect choice. I am so tired of him, will it ever end? My son and wife are moving to France, maybe we should all look for alternatives if he survives 2020.

      I’m hoping he won’t, but I didn’t think he’d win in 2016!

Me either, incredulous that he did. Now we’re over the shock we need to work at it not happening again.

I admit I didn’t see this newest offering from you. So it IS that orange asshat of immense proportion that thinks it’s viable (in this day and age) to try to buy some other, sovereign country? Americans (those who think like I do anyway) are deeply ashamed, horrified and sadly not a bit surprised by the latest dumb-fuckery by that orange moron. Maybe this will be the impetus someone needs to assassinate that bag of guts. He’s sort of like the strange uncle/aunt/cousin you never introduce to your friends or potential lovers…they’re just too embarrassing to admit to knowing.

I’m (sadly) having to pass on playing “Who Won The Week?” I don’t read nor listen to the news for the exact reason last week’s ‘winner’ won. That and locally there were two persons killed by some other idiot with a gun. I just can’t. I’ll read your posts on WWTW though. Ought to be educational (from a certain perspective).

I don’t realize buying a country was even on the table? Could I put my name forward to buy Australia please? That way technically I would be the Queen of Australia and then Goldfinch and I could move into some kind of palace or something?

I wonder how much Australia would cost. And can I order it on Amazon?

I better it’s an exorbitant delivery charge – can you imagine how much cardboard they would use wrapping it?

I heard about this and just hung my head with a sigh… not much else that we can do. Good for Greenland for staying free from Trumps grasp.

I love your pick! I, too, have been sticking to local news and NPR, but I love the idea! Yay!!
