FOWC with Fandango — Candelabra

FOWC

Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “candelabra.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, ÿplease manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. Show them some love.

I’ve been studying trees. We will be taking out three in the front yard and putting in two per the areas where the trees are currently. I intend to add some miniatures closer to the house as well. I’ve looked at a list of trees the city will provide; I believe only one of the two. Before coming across the list, I had already been discovering what could be good to take the place of an ash or two. Combine that with my own experience with trees that drop “berries” or whatever (such as from a crabapple) and I had narrowed things down. With the list, I looked up a few more. Just as important as whether or not I like the look of the thing or how I imagine it will feel under my feet is how tall and wide it will grow. One candidate in regard to the latter that I hadn’t considered previously was billed as having a floral presentation like a chandelier or candelabra. I’ve eliminated it, now however, as it seems to me there would be annoying pods underfoot during some season: yellow buckeye; instead, we will do tulip poplar. Both of these are a little taller than the tree (gingko) we will put in the other area, and the tulip poplar will be planted somewhat downhill.
