Fandango’s Provocative Question #23

FPQWelcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration. By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.

What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.

I don’t know about you, but I know that I’ve been pretty stressed out lately. The world, over the past several years, has become a chaotic place and many people are finding it disquieting and disturbing.

Most people, at some point in their lives, feel stress. Whether our stress is due to political, financial, personal, or other matters, we all have to figure out how to best cope with it. So my provocative question is this:

“How do you manage or deal with stress? Is there a specific strategy or approach that you’ve found to be particularly effective?”

If you choose to participate, write a post with your response to the question. Once you are done, tag your post with #FPQ and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

And most important, have fun.

Note: some bloggers have had issues with pingbacks not showing up lately, so if you don’t see it shortly after you published your post, you might want manually add your link in the comments.

B is for Baseball

img_0943Great news! The 2018 Major League Baseball season started this past Thursday. And I’m stoked.

Yes, I know. Some of you might suggest that, when it comes to baseball, B should be for boring. A lot of people seem to find watching baseball to be a yawner. Of course, many of these same people love watching golf. Go figure.

Sure, baseball isn’t as brutal as football. It’s not as fast-paced as basketball. It’s not as violent as hockey.

But it’s not at all boring if you take the time to really understand the game. Instead, baseball is a nuanced game. It’s a game of strategy. It’s a game of finesse.

Baseball is high drama — there’s drama with every at bat, with every pitch, every hit, every steal, every play in the field.

What can be more thrilling than a pitcher’s duel? How about a walk-off, game winning hit in the bottom of the ninth? Is there anything more exciting than an inside the park home run or a runner stealing home?

When should the manager pull the pitcher off the mound? Call for a pinch hitter? Put in a pinch runner? Call for a squeeze play or a steal?

It’s been a long winter and I’m so ready for baseball season to commence. So B is for baseball and B is for boom chuckalucka.

I’ll be back tomorrow for my C-post.

Has My Blog Been Hacked By The Russians?

74B0C064-9C8A-4BD2-BF6F-AB00E5BC3D31Up until a few days ago, the WordPress Akismet filter seemed to be working flawlessly. Bogus comments by phony commenters rarely made it by that filter and into my comments sections. But these insipid spammers have apparently come up with a new strategy.

Starting around three days ago, someone who goes by the name Alex began commenting on my posts. His first comment was, “Nice weblog here! Additionally your web site loads up fast! What web host are you the usage of? Can I am getting your affiliate link to your host? I wish my web site loaded up as quickly as yours lol.”

Obviously this was spam that sneaked by my Akismet spam filter. I marked it as spam and didn’t give it a whole lot of thought.

But then I started getting more comments from “Alex” on different posts. Comments like
