Isaac Asimov, author of such classic books and series as the Robot Series, the Foundation Series, and the Galactic Empire Series, died in 1992. But with the quote above, he must have anticipated the political climate in 2020, where Donald Trump and his Republican sycophants apparently believe that it’s patriotic to be blindly loyal to one of the most moronic, incompetent, and downright stupid presidents the United States has ever seen.

I was only able to catch brief glimpses of the opening day U.S. Senate’s impeachment trial of Donald Trump, but based upon what I did see, the proof of Asimov’s quote was on full display for anyone who was tuning in to watch it.
I think the actions on the part of Mitch McConnell and every single Republican senator showed not only their unwillingness to gather knowledge, but their inability to exercise wisdom.
