WDP — Keeping My Cool

Daily writing prompt
What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life?

We are in the middle of yet another heatwave where I live. Hence, my strategy for increasing my comfort in my daily life for the duration of this period of 95 to 100+ degree days is simple: air conditioning.

So go away and don’t bother me before I lose my cool.

A Month of Love #25

Paula Light says, “Let’s celebrate the month of lurve (aka love) by posting one thing we love every day throughout February.

Now the truth is that I’m not really a romantic guy, so I might be hard pressed to come up with 28 objects of love, but I think I should be able to come up with 28 things I like a lot.

I’m not a flashy dresser and I don’t make much of an effort — okay, no effort whatsoever — to be fashionable. For me, it’s alway comfort over style. And that goes for my shoes.

When I’m not padding around my house in slippers, my almost exclusive footwear is my Brooks Addiction Walker sneakers. In black.See, I told you, comfort over style.

FOWC with Fandango — Comfort

FOWCWelcome to December 1, 2020 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “comfort.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

50 Word Thursday — Sanctuary

F95EF0E0-C9A1-43B9-9145-AB600AAEF1F7“Why did you bring me here?” Miss Wonderly asked in a hushed voice.

“I love it here. It gives me comfort and joy. It’s my sanctuary, it offers me peace, and I wanted to share this place with you,” Miss Anthrope answered.

Miss Wonderly murmured, “Thank you,” softly as before and sat down on the edge of the chair’s wooden seat. “But you know I don’t believe, don’t you?” she said.

“That’s okay. I just felt the need to share this with you. Can’t you feel His presence?

“Feel whose presence?”

“God’s presence, silly girl.”

“Sorry, but no, I don’t.”

Written for this week’s 50 Word Thursday prompt from Kristian at Tales From the Mind of Kristian. The idea is to use the image above (unattributed), along with the lines, “Miss Wonderly murmured, ‘Thank you,’ softly as before and sat down on the edge of the chair’s wooden seat,” from Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon and to write a post that must be between 50 and 250 words, in 50 word increments.

100 Word Wednesday — Unconditional Love

33411803-4221-4B99-86CD-E58EEA2FC19FHe was my constant companion

Always by my side

He was my comfort and my joy

His love for me was unconditional

As was mine for him

He was loyal to a fault

There was nothing he wouldn’t do for me

Nor anything I wouldn’t do for him

He was my very best friend

Who accepted me as I am

Flaws and all

It was a ten years ago today

When we took our last walk

He lay in the autumn leaves

One final time

Before giving me his last, sad, goodbye look

And I still can’t stop missing him
