Song Lyric Sunday — We Didn’t Start The Fire

I am a huge Billy Joel fan. I have most of his albums/CDs and have seen him in concert at least a half a dozen times. So it was only natural for me, when I saw this week’s Song Lyric Sunday theme, “fire,” to think of Billy Joel’s 1989 hit, “We Didn’t Start The Fire.”

Per Wikipedia, the song’s lyrics, written by Joel, include brief, rapid-fire allusions to more than 100 headline events between 1949, the year of Joel’s birth, and 1989, when the song was released by Columbia Records in September of that year. “We Didn’t Start The Fire” was nominated for the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and was a number one hit in the US.
