FOWC with Fandango — Chill

FOWCWelcome to October 9, 2019 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “chill.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

The issue with pingbacks not showing up seems to have been resolved, but you might check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

A Different Perspective

D0EB88C1-6679-421B-AF1C-E398CF6DDC28“Oh my God,” Suzanne said, “don’t you think you have enough coats of lacquer on that bench?”

Brad looked up at his daughter and said, “One more layer should do it.”

Suzanne let out a little giggle. “You always tend to go overboard on these DIY projects of yours, Dad.”

“Someday you’ll find, Suzanne,” Brad said, “that the ideal approach to successfully completing any project, whether for your job, your home, or your life, is to have the gumption to do it the right way.”

“Dad,” Suzanne said, “my generation has a different perspective. We believe in going with the flow, you know what I mean? You need to be more pliable, to roll with the punches, to chill.”

“But, Suzanne,” Brad said.

“But nothing, Dad,” Suzanne said. “Here, take a toke of my doobie and try to chillax.”

It’s Finally Legal

Ed and Jack were standing in line waiting to make their first purchase of marijuana at a retail dispensary now that it was finally legal to buy pot for recreational use in California. “This place doesn’t take reservations, Dude,” Ed said. “It’s not a friggin’ restaurant.”

“It’s taking forever,” Jack complained.

“What did you expect?” Ed said. “Now that you don’t need some doctor to prescribe weed to…what was it you told him?…to help you sleep, everyone is going to be buying the stuff.

“Yeah,” said Jack. “I just wish I’d toked up before coming here. Then maybe standing in line would have been more tolerable.”

“Turn on your music, plug in your ear buds, and chill, Dude,” Ed said. “There are only about thirty people ahead of us.”

Written for today’s one-word prompt, “reservation.”
