The Garden Dawdler — 03/26/23

Rory, the king of questions, also known as the Autistic Composter, has come up with a new series of questions that he calls “The Garden Dawdler.” But Rory likes to change things up. He started out this series posing four questions three time a week. Then he switched to three questions twice a week as part of his Aloha series. And now he has switched gears yet again. Now it’s “nine questions once a week for your leisure or pleasure.”

Here are Rory’s nine Dawdler questions today.

Is the WHY to everything important?

I believe it is important to understand not only the why of what has happened, but how it happened.

What would you list as your Top Five Fun Things?

  • Blogging
  • Spending time with my grandchildren
  • Spending time on my deck enjoying the serenity and the views of my backyard
  • Watching a well-done, truly engrossing TV series
  • Going on long walks with my wife and dog (before I broke my hip)

Should we care about the dreams of others or only our own?

I’m not sure if by dreams, Rory is talking literally about dreams that occur while one is sleeping, or if he’s using the word “dreams” to mean hopes, plans, goals, ambitions, desires, etc. If it’s the former, no. if it’s the latter, and you care about the person, yes.

How well do you deal with criticism from others?

I’m perfect, so I don’t pay any attention to criticism from others.

Do you say YES or NO more often, and which is it?

Yes. Or No. I don’t know.

What is nose hair for?

To give purpose for a device like this:

What is the funniest comment you have ever received?

I must get a spam comment almost every day that says something like, “Your weblog is, how do you say it…relevant.” Yeah, I would hope so.

Novels or Netflix?

I’m embarrassed to say Netflix. And Hulu. And Prime. And HBO MAX. And Apple TV+. And Discovery+. And….

Do good things come to those who wait?

So they say.

They all sound intriguing and would appeal to me, but my wife vid not a fan of supernatural thrillers. So I may have to watch them on my own.

Sense 8 is fantastic but the first two or three episodes are really confusing…stick with it. It is about a different species – Sense 8s instead of Humans. The Following is about a serial killer who escapes. Kevin Bacon is the lead detective. Orphan Black is about cloning.

A series I recently watched and will likely watch again, if I can on the likes of your marshmallow thc thingies, is Poker Face.

I’ll have to look at this in the morning. It’s not as late as usual, but I’m a lot more tired than usual. You fell on your hip, I got COVID. Garry got COVID. Breathing has become an ISSUE. So I am going to bed. Perchance to sleep!

You know I’m fine if I don’t DO anything. It’s just breathing and I’ve asthmatic anyhow AND it’s spring and the trees are budding AND we live in a woods, so one thing and other and I’m find if I don’t have to BREATHE. Except you have to breathe. It’s a thing.

Audiobooks. They are like movies in your head. A good narrator (really important because even a great book with a bad narrator can be awful) and you can see the characters just the way you want them. The right book with good descriptions of locations? It’s almost a vacation in your own mind. After that? Whatever show we can find to binge on. Right now, we seem to have run out of material, so we are BOTH in an audiobook.

It’s like the people in Casablanca waiting for a ride to Lisbon. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting.
