Spam Comment of the Week — Week 12 2023

I get some interesting spam comments on my blog, most of which are captured by Akismet, WordPress’ spam blocker. I generally do a mass delete of all of my spam comments after checking to see if any legitimate comments got caught up in Akismet’s spam-catching net.

I thought it might be fun to select a particularly interesting or unique or outrageous spam comment and highlight it each week.

I didn’t get any AI-like spam comments this week. And for those of you who read my Spam or Legit post, Dante Trimble never responded to my reply to his comment.

Anyway, here is this week’s Spam of the Week comment. This one is from Hansin Landos. It was posted in response to my FOWC with Fandango — Profession post.

I do consider all the ideas you have offered on your post. They are very convincing and can definitely work. Still, the posts are very short for beginners. May just you please prolong them a little from next time? Thank you for the post.

You’re welcome Hansin. I’m pleased that you considered my ideas and found them convincing and workable. I’m not sure what you mean when you ask me to prolong my posts. Do you mean you’d like me to write longer posts? Sorry, dude, that’s not my jam.

    hansin’s comment seems off to me. Not the improper sentence structure for English (although it’s a great touch if AI generated, and comes off as way too accurate to be AI), but the vagueness of the beginning sentence feels strange to me. Yes, I do believe that it is a request to make your posts longer.

    As far as the 2 you highlighted in your OP that you linked to, wow. If those are AI, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle, they’re good! As far as why they didn’t seem legit, the 404 isn’t abnormal, from what I can tell. I’ve gotten a few comments that I’ve responded to that came up 404, but the person responded to my response. I could never figure out how the comment was connected to a 404, but hey, weird stuff happens. As far as the Dante one, it’s only been 3 days since the comment came in. Maybe he hasn’t logged back in yet, or maybe you ended up in his spam and he doesn’t check it. Who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I had 14 spam messages and none of them were even remotely entertaining — and half of them were in some language I do not understand. The half were moderately to seriously pornographic.

      This comment of yours got sent directly too my trash file probably because the last word in your comment is on my “forbidden word” list, along with the shorter, four letter version on that word that starts with a “p,” ends with an “n,” and has an “or” in between.

        Yeah. They can’t actually keep IT off your computer, but they can prevent any discussion of the subject. Now THAT makes sense, right?
