Share Your World

Di, at Pensitivity101, is our host for Share Your World each week. Here are her SYW questions for this week.

1. Do you use an ‘air freshener’ in your home/car/office? (solid, gel, spray, pot pourri, etc)

No. But we have a dog, and I’m sure, to visitors whose noses are unaccustomed to our canine’s smell, it might be helpful if we did.

2. How often do you clean the oven or microwave?

Our oven has a self-cleaning setting that we usually run two or three times a year.

As to the microwave, we clean it as needed, which is rarely. We use microwave-safe dish covers to keep nuked foods from splattering.

3. Do you use a fabric conditioner in your laundry and/or fragranced tumble dryer sheets?

We use fragrance-free Bounce dryer sheets.

4. If you have the choice, do you prefer to get your laundry dry outside on a line or use a tumble dryer?

We always tumble-dry our laundry. For those items that explicitly say “do not tumble-dry,” we have a drying rack and let those items air dry in our laundry room.

Gratitude:

Gratitude turns what I have into enough.

It’s easier to dry clothes in the dryer but it’s more costly too.

Like your gratitude Fandango. We read about using a dehumidifier to help dry clothes and tried that. It worked OK too, and didn’t cost the earth to run.
Thanks for joining in this week.

Mine clean themselves, too. In fact, that applies to the whole kitchen!

I don’t like most commercial “household” fragrances. Garry used to be addicted to spray odor scent, but it made my asthma flair, so he is learning to live without it. Our dog is earthy too, but all our friends have dogs so they don’t care — or notice.

I like the microwave safe dish covers! We’ve always used paper towels and I can’t seem to get my teens to consistently cover those plates. Although I suppose I might have that same problem with using covers. 🤦🏻‍♀️

The only air freshener we use in the house is in bathrooms when- spray can -someone else is in the vicinity of said restroom (pertaining to certain activity). Also, I wouldn’t want to miss out (because of an ambient constant nice other odor) on the smell of my shampoo and so forth after a shower.

Ovens are cleaned if there is a spill. With the microwave, this is only by hand. With the regular oven, a spill can hopefully be cleaned up quickly by hand; otherwise, there is a cleaning mode feature.

I don’t like fabric softener or dryer sheets. We usually do our laundry, including towels, separately. If something is going to touch my skin, I’m going to select the content and smell consistent with being human rather than industrial.

I use a dryer on extra-low (or sometimes low) as well as hang some things in the laundry room on hangers and shaped and lay some flat. I’d bet there’s a neighborhood rule against hanging things on a line in the yard.

I love your gratitude answer, and agree… with a bathroom exception, but we have others are not in need.
