It’s March 5, 2023. Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).
Today’s word is “carve.”
Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.
Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.
And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. Show them some love.

I find it flabbergasting to look back on the campaigns toward the carving up of necessities and taking them out of the hands of the public/people/populace* in order to supposedly make things better, when it was really about profiteering.
How Energy Privatization Bankrupted Britain
* I’m juggling these words because they can mean almost the opposite in Britain and the US. If I have learned correctly, what we call (for example) private schools in the United States would be called public there. When we speak of public, we mean government run… at least government funded (while we have opened ourselves up to handing over government funds to privately-run and profiting institutions as well).

Blackrock is mentioned in the videos earlier (^)

Here we have Blackrock, again, among others.
I Read Everything About Sam Bankman-Fried So You Don’t Have To
{Even though I didn’t have to, I’ve previously looked into this. When she references altruism (facetiously) it’s due to Sam claiming to be an altruist (a little bit like the current ESG craze based on fumes). Fun fact I hadn’t heard before: the FTX audited address was “in the metaverse” 😂.}

Ah, so the confusion with public schools being private schools arose before schools really existed.
A private education would have been a tutor in your own home, public education was paying for your child to attend tutoring in a group setting which any member of the public could pay the fee and attend.
In the modern era, a private school is still a school which members of the public pay a fee to attend hence the old name of public school, even though it’s a private school.
It’s just a language hangover. 🙂
