#WDYS — The Fire

Malcolm picked up the newspaper and started reading the headlines. As usual, all that jumped out at him was bad. War overseas, Gun violence at home, severe weather due to climate change, homelessness, income disparity, racial unrest.

Malcolm’s eyes welled up. What was happening to his country, to his world? Suddenly the newspaper burst into flames. “Hey, I didn’t start the fire,” Malcolm said, as he dropped the burning paper to the ground.

Rory’s Morning Dawdler — 02/23/23

Rory, the king of questions, also known as the Autistic Composter, has come up with a new series of questions that he calls “The Morning Dawdler.” He poses four questions three times a week, (although only three today), questions he says are “inspired by life, humor, conversations and observations, town life, blog posts, writers, gardening, news stories, television, entertainment, and human curiosity, and so on.”

Here are Rory’s four three morning dawdler questions today.

Are you quiet or vocal when watching television, a movie, or a film? Can you sit there with others and watch silently, or are you filled with oohs, ahhs, and other gesture forms?

I’m generally quiet when watching TV or a movie. I may recoil a bit at a particular gruesome scene, or flinch if I’m watching a suspenseful film and something unexpected happens, or laugh out loud if something really funny happens, but I mostly just sit and watch silently. I get really irritated when watching TV and someone in the room talks during the show.

How many rolls of toilet paper does your household use monthly on average?

As many as it takes.

Do you believe that if a person takes a life, they destroy a part of themselves – what are your views on this?

I can’t imagine taking another person’s life and I think if ever that would happen, I’d be haunted by it for the rest of my life. But do I believe that if a person does take a life, they destroy a part of themselves? No. Maybe it should, but I don’t believe it does. There are too many sociopaths and cold blooded killers out there who care little about human lives.
