Spam Comment of the Week — Week 6 2023

I get some interesting spam comments on my blog, most of which are captured by Akismet, WordPress’ spam blocker. I generally do a mass delete of all of my spam comments after checking to see if any legitimate comments got caught up in Akismet’s spam-catching net.

I thought it might be fun to select a particularly interesting or unique or outrageous spam comment and highlight it each week.

This week’s featured spam comment was from Lupe Kimbiel and was in response to my “Who Am I” page.

Can I simply say what a comfort to discover a person that actually knows what they are discussing on the web. You certainly understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people should look at this and understand this side of your story. I was surprised that you are not more popular because you certainly possess the gift.

I am certainly pleased that my “Who Am I” page was such a comfort to you. I am a bit confused, though, about what problem I brought to light. That said, Lupe, like you, I too, am surprised that I’m not more popular, given the gift I possess.

Anyway, have you read some catchy spam comments that you’d like to share with us? If so, put them in the comments or create your own post and tag it #FSCW.

Mine, you do not need to be super human to be incredible. Allow amazingness to help you do something extra, really feel better and to get ahead. I mean I agree with the first comment, from RV paint shop near me, but not sure why they chose a year old post to say it.

I don’t get a lot of spam comments. Otherwise, I’d share a funny one or two here. However, I had a funny day on Friday when I got a message from WordPress that I was becoming very popular that day. I looked at my stats, and they had more than doubled what they usually are and there were no spam comments. In fact there were no comments other than from regular followers. When I looked at the source, I saw that I have suddenly become extremely popular in Saudi Arabia. Go figure! I also noticed that I had a lot of views via Twitter. That was kind of weird because I canceled my Twitter account after Elon musk bought the company a while back, so who knows what happened? I was still quite popular yesterday in Saudi Arabia and I’m keeping my eye on it! LOL 🤣. The mysteries of the internet.

Saudi Arabia, huh? I got 32 views from Saudi Arabia in all of 2022 and 8 from there so far this year. I wonder why they love you so much in Saudi Arabia! 😉

Its bizarre. I’ve never had a view from there before that I can recall. Also for some reason I am not popular in South America. When I do get something from Venezuela or Brazil I am so shocked! Once I had an American guy living in Argentina send me a poem and he said “Here’s something you might want to post” There was no request that I share it or a please or thank you. It was like he was doing me a favor or something. I said he must be confusing me or my blog with someone else. It wasn’t even any good 🙄 The blogosphere is a funny place sometimes. LOL

I cleared the folder last week, and I have 133 more, and they all still look like this –

I need better spammers. Perhaps an ad?

Before I deleted all of my posts on my blog, I was getting a large amount of spam on a daily basis. A few of them sounded like this one while most of the others were constantly selling some or the other pill for “sexual wellbeing”. Now, with the new blog none so far.

So happy to see you’re back to your witty self Fandango!  My last spam text started out Dear, which was off putting at the least reminding me my car insurance etc was due. I haven’t had a car in 12 years😀
