One-Liner Wednesday — Superstition

“The way to deal with superstition is not to be polite to it, but to tackle it with all arms, and so rout it, cripple it, and make it forever infamous and ridiculous.”

H. L. Mencken, American journalist, essayist, satirist, cultural critic, and scholar of American English.

Written for Linda G. Hill’s One-Liner Wednesday prompt.

The opening speaker (for an introduction) remembers
a tank at 600 and Massachusetts Avenue “around the corner“
two days after Jan 6, 2021; having to show ID to enter this building.
After the committee completed its work, this book became the leading nonfiction book… presenting the Report (with a foreword by Ari) and
“besting editions from the New York Times and the New Yorker.”

Ari says he counts eight plots designed to change outcome:
      Lawsuits are legal.
      Electors.
      States’ overthrow of votes.
      Congress to overthrow votes.
      Pence.
      DOJ interfering.
      Coup with military.
      Sabotage on the sixth.

Melber is done by twenty minutes.
Flannery speaks, and there is conversation plus Q/A
[Both Ari Melber and John Flannery — a good place to start for Flannery
is twenty-one minutes — include criticism of Merrick Garland.]

Whilst Bill Gates, in parallel proving his marriage wasn’t
magical, called something “magic” (January 2021)
that he now calls “not infection blocking… not
broad… and they have a very short duration.” A
far cry from “protecting themselves… reducing their
transmission and allowing society to get back to normal.”
