Okay, this is what happens when you are lying in a hospital bed recuperating from a partial hip fracture while watching the NFC divisional playoff game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys on TV, and trying to respond to a new prompt post on WordPress
I went into my history, found my January 8 response to Johnbo’s Cellpic Sunday post, and said, “It’s all good, man.” Unfortunately, instead of hitting “duplicate” on that old post to create a brand new post, I must have hit “edit.” Then, I began removing all of the blocks on my original post, replacing the photo and all of the text with a new photo and brand new paragraph blocks. It wasn’t until when I attempted to publish the new post, that I realized that I wiped out the original post. Poof. It’s gone. Well, except for the photo, which was still in my media file.
Here’s the photo I used for that January 8th post.

Remember that? But as I said, all the text that accompanied that photo is gone. I don’t know if any of you might know if there’s a way to retrieve it. If so, I’d love to hear from you.
The moral to this story is to pay attention and limit your multitasking when creating a new post. Especially if you’re lying in a hospital bed.
If you wish to participate in this fun cellphone photo prompt, please click on the link to John’s post at the top of my post to see his photo and to read his instructions.
Oh Fandango! I’m sorry your post was lost! Unfortunately I don’t know of a way to retrieve it! I did not know you were in hospital! Hope your on the mend?

Yeah, that’s what I figured. My brilliant words are up in smoke and gone forever. Oh well. What can you do? 🤷🏼♂️

I save all my WordPress posts and images to my computer, usually writing them in Word, then copying and pasting them (sometime a block at a time) to WordPress. I fine tune them there. On previous sites, I had templates on my computer for posts that only needed a little bit changed. I know this is no help now, but something you may consider in the future.
I’m sorry you lost it. I know how you feel. Just today, I was searching my computer for a flash fiction post I wrote years ago, and it’s nowhere to be found. Sigh…😞

Sadly,I don’t write my posts on another app and cut and paste them to WordPress. So it seems I am SOL, as they say.

I learned my lesson the hard way on saving work years and years ago(practically the stone age). I had been writing on a short story for hours, had almost finished, and the electricity blinked off for a couple of seconds. This was in a time when one had to manually tell a computer to automatically save one’s work on whatever schedule one set. I forgot to set the document to save every five minutes when I started writing that morning. Well, needless to say, I lost the story. Yes, I rewrote it but knew my original words were better. I screamed out f#@k! at the top of my lungs. Scared Husband to death.

That once happened to me after many hours of entering data into a Lotus 1-2-3 (remember Lotus 1-2-3?) and ten accidentally kicking the computer’s power cord out of the outlet. This was in the days before autosave. Ugh!

Yes, I remember Lotus 1-2-3, formatting disks, working from command prompt…and when AOL came into existence. God, I’m old! 🙄

I think that once you continue to edit the deleted content can’t be recovered. I hope your recovery is going well. How long will you be in hospital?

As of right now they are targeting to send me home this coming Friday. I will continue to receive in-home physical and occupational thereby.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. I hope things go well for you and you’ll be home soon. It really sucks getting older doesn’t it?
I’m pretty bummed out about Dallas is lost to San Francisco last night. Cowboys have been my team for many many years. Oh well, you’d better spank the Eagles next weekend!

It wasn’t the best played game by either team, but I was ultimately happy with the outcome. And yes, we’re of to spank the Eagles next week!

I enjoyed that game this morning, saw part of the third and the whole fourth. I came in a 9 all. That SF quaterback? had a good throw and Mitchell was electric. Don’t understand why Dallas let him run so much in the last part of the game

Yes, it was a good game, although I thought neither team was at the top of its game. I’m just happy that, at the end of the game it was the Niners and not the Cowboys who had the most points.

The only thing I can think of, is to ask WordPress? Maybe…don’t not like me no more, lol

Congrats on the 49ers — the first team who had a player I actually noticed to watch (when I lived in the Bay Area) with any interest — winning.

Thanks for the explanation, Fandango. I also think there’s no recovery.

I *think* if you go to edit the post and look at the side bar to the right where the tags and stuff are there is an option to look at how many revisions have been done, you might be able to reverse it there?

Hmm. Interesting. If I’m feeling up to it, I might just try that.

Ah……… I’ve done that and use the revisions list to correct the corrections I made incorrectly.
Hope you’re on the mend Fandango
