No Energy

No energy
No energy to talk
No ability to walk
Can’t get in and out of bed by myself
Can’t go to the bathroom on my own
My left leg feels like dead weight
Muscles not responding to instructions from my brain
Physical and occupational therapy sessions four times a day
Painful, grueling, and exhausting
But as they say, “no pain no gain.”
Who the fuck are they?

All I do is eat a little
(No appetite for this hospital food)
Between therapy sessions
Spend most of my time trying to sleep
Lots of weird, strange dreams
Where I’m able bodied
And then I wake up in this place
In the middle of my nightmare
Is it any wonder I’m depressed?

They say they’re sending me home next Friday
For the next phase of my recovery
I’m doing what I can
Fighting through the pain
To be ready for that
In the meantime
No energy to open WordPress
No energy to write
No energy to read, like, or comment.
No energy to thank all of you
Who have wished me well
Wished me a rapid recovery
Thank you

Thanks , Jim, but I’m afraid it’s on me to bear the pain and what must be done move my life back towards normal.

I’ll lay odds that you’ll rest better, and feel more energetic when you get back home.

It’s not so much the bed as it is being stuck in it. But being at home has got to be so much better than being in a hospital any way you look at it.

Hospital lighting does not help with its cold green nature. I wish you a speedy recovery, Fandango. Rest and recuperate!

In the green glow of the hospital room, with no energy to spare, he mustered some words to let us know he was still there.

To his surprise, though, his community knew, his future of writing would never be through.

Continue to rest and take good care, they all said. Recovery’s important to get you out of that bed.

You’re in good hands with Raul and Jeanie. We are sure that is true, and before long, we promise, you won’t be feeling so blue. 💙

As so many have said, rest and be easy. The world, and Word Press, awaits when you feel better.

I feel your pain Fandango but with your sense of humor and family support you will recover and whenever we find the “theys” I’m ready to give them a go too.  Hang in there and have your wife sneak in something tasty to get you by till you are home.  I begged to go home because the hospital bed was so uncomfortable and did end up going home from rehab too early.  Not good.  Take heart friend and all of our good wishes are flying over the net to you!🤗🤗🤗

Thanks, Cheryl. Reading messages like this help keep my spirits up, even though, and especially after going through rigorous and painful physical and occupational therapy session, my energy is so drained all I am able to do is dream.

Now I need to read back and find out what happened 😦 Fandango, everything about a hospital is designed to make you feel worse. No privacy, staff keep you from sleeping, getting poked and prodded, the unnatural light, the hideous food. Try to pretend it is just a temporary nightmare. Don’t let it get you down. Will start vibing energy to you and keep it vibing, a glowing blanket of warm energy, that will protect and cushion you, until you get the hell out of that hell.

Thank you, Li. Intellectually I know it’s a temporary thing, although at my age, it will be a long temporary, as one doesn’t bounce back from injuries like these as rapidly as one did in youth. Yes, being in the hospital and in hospital-based rehab sucks, but if all goes according to plan, in six days I’ll be heading home, and there really is no place like home.

Don’t rush your recovery Fandango. Us old farts take time to recover now-a-days. I agree with the sneaking in a bit of home cooking to aid in getting back on your foot.

Thanks, Brian. The good woman has done just that, helping to fill the void left by the bland and almost inedible hospital fare.

Take your time Fandango otherwise you might be in an even worse position than you are now.
Hospital food sucks, but at least you’re getting something. My first stint in hospital lasted a week and all I was allowed was water. I lost seven pounds and when I was finally allowed to order a meal, I was discharged before I had it! They never did find out what was wrong either.

Since then, I’ve only had two overnight stays in hospital, one with a severe nosebleed they couldn’t stop and I looked like a walrus with two tampons stuck up m nose, and when I had my op in 2019. I got breakfast then!!

The body needs all the energy it can get too heal which leads to little energy for the mind. It’s very frustrating. So sorry they can’t at least give you something tasty to eat. Perhaps a nice glass of wine! Hoping for the best for you!

Thanks. I think “bland” is the best word used to describe the food they serve here, but it’s institutional food, and people generally don’t flock to hospital for gourmet meals. 😉

Nice to see your feet again. Good to hear from you. I’m surprised they intend to discharge you so soon. I was in hospital 6 weeks with a fractured pelvis waiting for it to heal…….

I’m surprised, too, based upon the way I’m feeling now, but I’m happy nonetheless to be going home and to continue my therapy from there.

I’m so very sorry to learn of your accident, my friend! I didn’t know until just now. Take care and trust me … you’ll feel much better both mentally and physically when you get out of that torture chamber they call a hospital! I spent 11 days in one just over a year ago and left in worse shape than when I arrived there, plus I caught a nurse stealing from me! Wishing you a very speedy recovery!
