It’s Monday and Dr. Tanya is back with her weekly Blogging Insights prompt. She provides us with a quote about blogging or writing and asks us to express our opinion about said quote.
Today’s quote is from American country music singer and songwriter, Brad Paisley.
“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one!”
You can probably tell from the title of this post what I think about Brad Paisley’s quote. Is this supposed to be motivational? Maybe if tomorrow were November 1st, the first day of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and the quote was, “Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 167 page book, assuming 50,000 words with an average of 300 words per page. Write a good one!” I’d say yep, that makes sense. That is, after all, what NaNoWriMo is all about, right.
But as a general comment for writers, I think Brad Paisley should stick to songwriting and singing. And as Dr. Tanya pointed out, a better “motivational” quote that says essentially the same thing, but applies to more than one occupation is, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”
Perhaps if Brad wanted to alter a motivational saying to fit writers, he should have bastardized “One Day at a Time” with “One Page at a Time.”
This, That, and the Other 
‘One page at a time’ is very true, as in ‘slow and steady wins the race’.

I don’t see that as trite, he’s obviously trying to make the point that you have to start somewhere, which makes sense to me

This (these words while I know nearly nothing about him or his persona) doesn’t bother me… yeah, even starting on the third (no matter what day he said it) one can think in terms of a 365-page (or 366 providing for a leap year) diary with no dates for no particular year per se. And I won’t (in fact) be writing in a journal, but I would like to make it a good compendium of days. I’m feeling optimistic today, granted, having spent parts from three out of the last four “days” with most of my family… today being the one where I got up simply to drink coffee and appreciate the foggy January morning.
