Fandango’s Provocative Question #196

FPQ

Welcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration.

By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.

What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.

The holiday gift-giving season this year has pretty much drawn to a close. Sometimes we get gifts that are real head-scratchers. For example, one of the gifts I received this year was this:

This gift got me thinking about some of the more, well, unusual gifts we receive for the holidays (or birthdays or other occasions). And that leads me to this week’s provocative question:

What was the most unusual, unique, weirdest, or most useless holiday gift you received this year? Please feel free to substitute birthday or other occasion gift if that works better for you.

If you choose to participate, you may respond with a comment or write your own post in response to the question. Once you are done, tag your post with #FPQ and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments. But remember to check to confirm that your pingback or your link shows up in the comments.

I didnt get anything useless, but daughter bought wallet for ex, father of her child, and he didn’t like it so he threw it in the bin 🙄. I haven’t heard the end of it since

Charity shop is a better option than the bin. He must have been grumpy – which is fair enough. I know lots of people who feel exhausted by this time of year.

Someone gave me something slightly odd and I am wondering if they even realize it. It was a well made leather case (not sure what I would use it for – probably papers). One side was adorned with book motifs, and embroidered with famous books and authors. But oddly, when you open it, there i a human skull stitched onto the inside lining. It is a little freaky. I suspect I will be carting it off to a charity shop before next weekend so it can frighten someone else.

lol – it’s in the pile of things I mean to find a more appreciative home for – along with all of the Quality streets and fancy biscuit boxes…and the chintzy bags and purses. The post-holiday trip to the charity shops with a suitcase of unwanted stuff is pending.

It sounds like a lot of people got “regifted” gifts. We were lucky. We didn’t get anything useless, ill-fitting or large. We didn’t get anything that needs to hang on a wall or stand on a shelf. We got what we wanted (not much, thank you) and gave what was asked for. We survived one more year!

Still unsure of what the hell you were given. The “motion activated” is weird? and that it is water proof? Does it go in the toilet bowl?
It does seem like a crap gift to me 😂

Yes, it goes on the lip of the toilet bowl. It illuminates when someone walks into the bathroom. Supposedly it’s water resistant. And, yes, it’s a crap gift.
