We periodically release the latest update of our operating system to the general public, but before we do, we engage a small group of beta testers to check it out and make sure everything is working as intended.
This outreach allows us to identify and fix any bugs in the new features and functionality in the latest release as well as to verify that the coding in the new release hasn’t broken any of the functionality of the previous releases.
We used to name each release after a type of metal, like Tin and Copper and Brass. But starting with this release, we’re naming them after vegetables. We’re starting out with Cauliflower, and once that is out, we’ll be starting on the next release, Broccoli.
Written for Greg’s Five Word Weekly Challenge, where the five words are: periodic | beta | outreach | cauliflower | copper
Can I have some cheese on my broccoli?

I like it, much healthier than Google’s sugarcoated code names. Better not be for the kid’s market though!
