For today’s Sunday Poser, Sadje wants to know…

How important it is to you to answer comments on your blog posts? Do you think responding to comments is an important part of blogging?

I really appreciate it when someone takes the time to read and comment on one of my posts. And I do read each and every comment. Sometimes, I will simply Like the comment to acknowledge that I’ve seen it. Other times I will simply say “Thanks.” And time permitting, I may respond with a longer comment.

But the point is, I will do my best to read every comment or link-back to my posts and respond with a Like and/or a comment. Because, yes, both commenting on other bloggers’ posts and responding to comments other bloggers have made on my posts are not only important, they are quite possibly the best thing about blogging.

    Yep! Otherwise we might as well keep a diary on Word. That reminds me, I follow a few poets who never seem to have comments enabled, and I don’t understand that…

      Paula, I’ve noticed that as well, and I can think of two reasons why they don’t enable comments—one, because of a lack of comments on their posts in the past, and two, they don’t want to make comments on other’s posts but feel obligated to do so if people comment on their posts. Who knows…?🤷‍♀️

    I’m the same, though sometimes, a comment ends up in my spam folder, and I don’t see if for a while—if ever. 🙄

      That’s happened to me, too, which is why I check my spam folder daily, hoping to catch those and retrieve those that are legit.

    I can’t understand why anyone would not respond to comments on their posts. Sometimes I don’t get round to doing so for a couple of days, as life can get in the way. If someone has taken the time to offer their thoughts and support, how can you ignore them.

      Exactly. If someone has taken the time to leave a comment, the least you can do is acknowledge it, even if it’s just liking the comment.

    I like to comment as well, but given time constraints, at least I “like” the interesting posts.

    I agree…. I am once again WAY behind and not commenting as much, but sometimes you just have to say something, you know?
