Hello. Did I write something, say something, or do something to offend you? Hey listen, I know it’s early. It’s a Sunday morning, and it’s your day off, your day of rest. I get it. But still.
I always check my stats when I wake up in the morning. How many of my fellow bloggers viewed my posts while I was sleeping? How many comments did my posts get that I need to read and respond to?
On a typical morning, when I look at my overnight stats at around 7 am, I have anywhere from 100 to sometimes as high as 200 views. And usually around 30 to 40 comments.
But this morning, when I opened my eyes and looked at my stats page at around 10 past 7, here’s what I saw:

Only 83 views. Only 13 comments. Did everyone on my side of the globe oversleep? Did all of you who live on the other side of the globe decide that today was the day to boycott my blog? Where are you?
Even now, two hours later, I’ve only received 112 views and 15 comments.
Don’t you love me anymore?
Don’t feel bad. It was the same for me. A WP glitch, me thinks.

All of my readers are getting too lazy to hit the like button or leave comments and I know it is not my writing.

How much effort does it take to hit the Like button?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Not much as I hit it all the time.

Yes, it’s not your writing. Or mine. Or Fan’s. Too lazy? That’s an interesting thought.. I’ve always wondered if on weekends traffic etc slows down. I’m not as fanatical about stats as Fan but it would be interesting to know from others if it generally slows down on weekends?

My stats go up and down like a roller coaster ride. Seems day of the week is not a good predictor of my stats.

Do you find traffic slows down on weekends or do yo find there is there no relation to day of week?

It’s inconsistent. Some weekends it’s up, others, it’s down.

Yes , I’ve been finding that. Maybe too busy lovey doveying on weekend (we’re down they’re up). If had argument we up , them down

I’ve decided on making one of my mom’s mom’s signature pies, for the 24th. I probably oughta’ get out there and obtain the ingredients. (In other words, no, I’m not having people over — not cooking the basics for an entire dinner.

I was a little busy with other, far less important stuff. But I did manage to get a FOWCer squeezed out, so…

And I thank you for that, Ron.

I think it’s another WP issue. I have no where near the volume you have, but mine was exceptionally low today also.

Yeah, that’s the only feasible explanation. 😂

WP have been playing and the latest gizmo is the 7 day comparison stats. Mine are all down, some by over 50% and whilst I’m not really bothered about stats (I prefer the comments and interaction) I do feel depressed and wonder if I’ve lost people’s interest.

Why worry about ‘Views’ and how many ‘Likes’ you get and all the rest of that popularity contest bullshit? Just blog for the hell of it, none of it amounts to a hill of beans anyway, In the common vernacular: Fukit!

Yeah, you’re right. I should just ignore the stats and do my thing.

From one septuagenarian to another, you’ve got way more “followers” and bigger Stat nos. than me (the main difference between us is you’re “liberal” and I’m what they call “conservative” — but again, what does it matter? As writer Thomas Bernhard said: “Nothing matters, so long.”

You can’t ignore them completely Fan. We all like an occasional pat on the back. It’s only human……..but yes a stat freak is maybe not good. It gives you a false sense of ‘security’. Me and Billy will always be with you. Now don’t tear up……

There’s that human problem we all have. Write for yourself? Or write for others and get pats on the back? I basically write for myself but an occasional pat on the back is nice……..

🤔 I have covered this issue in a previous blog post.
Countless WordPress bloggers have experienced a drastic drop in their views and their visitors (Something, without a doubt, is very wrong).

My views are lower at the moment too. Especially for the last two days. I’ve noticed a definite dip.

Maybe WordPress changed something in the way they count views.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah there have been some updates recently so maybe that’s what effected the views.

It happens. For no reason. For me, it usually means I didn’t write anything new. I want to do other things — like watch a movie or have a conversation. So not only do I write less, but I comment less. AND I read less because I have a pile of books waiting for me to read them that is a thousand feet tall.
Also, I think for me, most of MY readers are close to my age. Most are retired, in their 70s or older. Maybe they don’t feel like spending every day online. I know I don’t feel like it a lot of days, so why should they?

I don’t look at my stats, mostly. It’s a an eating disorder recovery thing. I try not to attend to/focus on numbers, whatever the arena. For me, that way leads to madness.

If you manage to offend me, I’ll send you some kind of award! 🙂 But on a more serious note, looks like google has been doing its shenanigans lately and a lot of blogs have lost traffic until it gets sorted out! If part of your traffic comes through something google related, it’s a thing that’s happening!

blogland has been especially quiet lately! I did wonder the same thing! My stats have bottomed out too! Hardly any comments, and views are minimal! xo

Interesting. How do you do it? I have written up to 10 posts in more than 6 months and I barely have up to 10 views by fellow bloggers.
It’s really discouraging but I hope this changes soon.
