Weekend Writing Prompt — The Local Bookstore

There was a local bookstore
Run by a kindly, old bibliopole.
There were old books, new books, records, and more.
I spent hours browsing around that bookstore
Then along came Amazon and Kindle
And the bookstore is no more.

(Exactly 39 words)

Written for Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt, where the word is “bibliopole.”

Love it. Sad fact. We’re screeners, not pagers anymore.
(Friendly proofread: typo in Line 3?)

Yes, very sad. Amazon had caused many small businesses to close.

Sad. Where has the corner store gone where Miss Bethel said ‘Here Donald, a free biscuit for you’ She must have liked me Fan. I tell Billy about this and he says ‘what’s going on? What can I say?…….

I don’t think there are any corner stores left… we have some local specialty shops I go to for gifts when I can, but there are far more chain stores in town. Very sad.
