Sadje’s Sunday Poser — Not Intentionally

For her Sunday Poser today, Sadje wants to know…

Do you like to re-read old favorite’s again?

I don’t intentionally re-read books I’ve read before. That said, I will occasionally start reading a book and as I begin to get into it, I may start to think it feels familiar to me. Sort of like a feeling of déjà vu. But as I continue reading it, sometimes as I’m approaching the end of the book, I come to the realization that the familiar feeling is because I’ve actually have read the book before.

That sometimes happens with movies, too. I’ll start watching a movie that I thought I’d never watched before, only to realize at some point that I had, indeed previously watched it.

Perhaps that’s a byproduct of getting older. It’s true that, with me being in my seventies, my memory ain’t the steel trap it used to be. But the good news when these re-read/rerun events take place, it’s almost as if I’m reading the book or watching the movie for the first time.

I suppose one might call that the silver lining of the golden years.

This happens to me when I write about some songs. As I start writing, I realize that I had already written about this before and then I have to pick a different one.

I do that with movies. With books I have yet to do it. Thanks for sharing Fandango

lol.. I definitely love re-reading books I’ve loved before because, I’ve noticed how much my perception of the book, or the way I relate to the book has changed completely. I understand things differently than I have before and it’s like an entire new experience.

I read a lot of similar books, and often they’re carbon copies of each other

I’m exactly the same… and anymore, even though I’ve seen a movie before, it is like I’m seeing it for the first time again. With books, I usually don’t reread them once I realize I’ve read them before, although there are a few books I’ve read more than once.

Oh, I absolutely do! I still will reread books from my teenage years. But, my Gran was a Librarian, so I don’t know if she influenced me in some way?

I love rereading books, and rewatching old reruns of tv shows I loved as a kid!
