Di, at Pensitivity101, is our host for Share Your World each week. Here are her questions for this week.
1. Does the weather affect your mood?
Only if I have plans that will be affected (one way or the other) by the weather.
2. If a stranger smiles at you or says ‘good morning’ when they pass you in the street, do you return it?
I will typically return the smile or nod my head, but rarely speak.
3. If you had a choice of just one of these things to eat, what would it be and why?
Chocolate, a sweet pastry, a plate of chips/fries (this is not a forever choice, just one instance).
Depends what else, if anything I’m having. If I’m having a sandwich or a burger, I’d choose chips/fries. But if it’s a dessert following a meal, I’d go with a sweet pastry. And if it’s just a quick snack on the run, probably a Snickers bar.
4. If you could go back to when you were a specific age, what would that be? Why?
I’d probably go back to when I was 22 and had just graduated from college. That was the age at which I started my real life, and didn’t realize the ramifications of some of the decisions I made at the time. Of course, I wouldn’t necessarily want to go back to that age unless I would know then what I know now.
Gratitude:

I was very grateful to have had some very specials friends as houseguests this past week. And now I’m grateful that they have left and I can get back to my regular routines.
Hello/Goodbye hands from Klaus Hargreeves at Esty.
It’s nice to have visitors and nice to return to normal.

I always say a hearty hello when I pass someone, I love to see the reaction. Most people nod and hurry past 😂

For the most part, weather doesn’t affect my mood… except
I love rain and snow and can hardly stand high heat if I have to be in it.
That begs the question of whether I could stand being in rain or cold 🥶 long.
If I could swim (in cool or lukewarm water) while the air was very hot, I’d be okay.
How I respond or react to the stranger depends upon what else is going on…
yet, if the person is passing by, I will generally return a smile and might speak.
I had a wonderful cheese pastry after dinner at an Austrian restaurant, yesterday. But if I hadn’t eaten for a while and was hungry, I would choose (from among the three) a plate of potato chips or fries… unless I knew I could have something heartier next (in which case I would select the pastry first).
I am thankful for conversation at home, then in the car and out, yesterday evening and for being reminded of Grandma’s cheese pie — which I hope to make for Thursday the 24th, this year.

This would sure mess up a sunny day at the beach. I wonder if there is reason not to do it on a rainy day. (There’s a video.)

Deauville Hotel fell into itself after a series of explosions were set off, sending up a large cloud of dust. The hotel was built in 1957 and [President] Kennedy spoke there to the Young Democrats Convention in 1961.
The Beatles performed there in 1964, recording six songs …

It’s nice to have visitors, but even nicer when they go home and you have the house to yourselves again.

I’m still recovering, but I’m getting there. I’m REALLY glad I finally called the doctor. I have so many physical issues, I tend to not call because I figure it’s just my body doing its thing, but when the fever came up, I realized it wasn’t just me being me. Something ELSE was going on. I’d like to remind everyone that sometimes, you really do need a professional. I didn’t even have to go to the office. We did it all on the iPhone! Amazing, those little devices!

What is the fever due to?

I don’t know. It’s something and it responded immediately — almost instantly — to azithromycin — so probably bacterial. But not COVID. Three tests later, all negative and amazingly, no one else in the house is sick — except possibly Garry which should not be a surprise. Whatever one of us gets, the other pretty much always gets.
Exactly WHAT? I don’t know. The doctor doesn’t know and unless I feel like going for extensive tests (I don’t), I probably won’t know. Mostly, I just want it to go away!
Until the fever arrived, I’m such a mess everyone assumed it was just my body doing what it does. But — I don’t get fevers. This is the ONLY fever I’ve gotten that wasn’t a reaction to a COVID booster in more than 20 years — at least. It might be even longer than that.

I’m glad you’re recovering. And yes, sometimes you really need to call upon a professional.

In the same area as number four… if you went back would you do things different or just want to relive things?

Good question. The answer is that I don’t know.
