Di, of Pensitivity101, is once again sitting in for Melanie, of Sparks from a Combustible Mind, for today’s Truthful Tuesday post. Her question is…
Do you find time goes faster as we age?
Hell yes. Take this year, for example. It’s already November. It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming in 2022 with great expectations. The reality of 2022 has not been so great, though.
I remember from my youth that days seemed to last forever. And years? Sheesh, the school year would start in September and end in June, when summer vacation would start. As a kid, September to June seemed like an eternity. Today, years — even decades — go by in the blink of an eye.
And holy cow, in two short months we’re going to be entering the 23rd year of the century. Wasn’t it just yesterday that everyone was panicking about Y2K, a widespread computer programming shortcut that was expected to cause extensive havoc around the globe as the year changed from 1999 to 2000? How quaint.
I don’t know the science behind clock time versus perceived time, but I do know that I absolutely perceive time to be zipping by much faster now that I’m an old fart than it did when I was a young stud.
Oh well, such is life.
Yep. Know exactly where you’re coming from

Time flies like crazy nowadays. Well, except for the current requirement of sitting with my ankle above my heart for at least another week. This is taking an eternity.

I agree, the last ten years seems to have flown by, and I haven’t even blinked.

I attended a JK to 12th grade all-girls school; when I was ten years old, I was complaining about how the school year was endless, and a wise teenager from the high school section told me: “just wait until you turn 15, then time flies!” And she was sooo right; the next 5 years went on as slow as ever, and then, puff! I am here over four decades later, hehe.

Seems everyone has the same perception of time going faster the older you get. This is interesting. I don’t know why but would like to. Google would probably enlighten me…….
I remember (as you all probably will) school year went on and on, but so did the summer holidays. 6 weeks. Glorious. And we had three mid year breaks of 3 weeks. Wait for it Fan…….and we knew up to our 12X tables by heart. And knew how to spel propaly. And I even joined in with my other classmates singing Mary Hadda Little Lamb. Fun days they were Fan. I had a crush on little Mary too (she often sat next to me)…but that’s another story. No, I didn’t end up marrying her……….
Another piece of serious trivia. Scientists have discovered the planet is spinning faster than it did 50 years ago. They don’t know why. Einstein could probably tell us. Anyhow, if this continues we will have to shave 1 second off the atomic clocks.
Hey? Billy tells me time will fly quicker then. I said I would pass this on to Uncle Fan…….
