It’s October 20, 2022. Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).
Today’s word is “sordid.”
Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.
Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.
And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. Show them some love.

What’s new Marlene. We had a farmer politician caught watching porn on his phone during parliament. Said he was looking up tractors. Needless to say he resigned.
Not just in this one instance but this seems to be spreading in what we have always considered to be ‘respected and trusted’ areas…..

Yeah, I didn’t know about the specific story where you are but… a lot of stories are adding up to be very disconcerting.

At least he got caught and can’t come up with some plausible deniability or refusal to testify, like some people over here.

… WPN… rushed to release an “apology” letter regarding the explicit dancer. They expressed very briefly that they “accept responsibility and apologize that this [{Harlotte} Hussy’s performance] occurred.” WPN then went on to say, “We do not believe that these performers had malicious intentions, but we do not condone their actions.”

What? I don’t have any particular affinity for “Santa Claus” (and didn’t use that lie with my kids) but… what the heck? Have we been sheltered from or gaslit about the secret and sordid actual history of the character? I know there are old, supposed connections to some other dude… a traveler who put funds into socks one day in, maybe, Germany… but we are told that the current unmistakable form was devised by Coca-Cola — early nineteen hundreds (which is during the reassertion of white power after the attempt at Reconstruction, btw). I’ve additionally come across [years ago] the blog of an artist in Europe who painted the notional unattached patriarch as a Nordic spiritual inflictor of terror. Take a look at eight-and-a-half minutes into this new documentary — for a split second (you might want to pause it to inspect).

~
For example, an official told the Times that, during the primary season, Stone was sent to New Hampshire to make a donation to a Nixon challenger in the name of the Gay Liberation Front and forward a receipt for the donation to a Manchester, N.H., newspaper publisher. (Stone, apparently wary of announcing he was there on behalf of a gay organization, decided to make the donation in the name of the Young Socialist Alliance.) Stone also suggested to the Committee to Re-elect the President that they hire a young man he knew to infiltrate “radical” [or, simply, challenger] organizations.
…
….
He would later acknowledge his part in the Nixon campaign “dirty tricks,” adding that he was just 19 when he made that New Hampshire donation, and under orders from his boss to do something that was not technically illegal …
After Nixon’s resignation, Stone continued to have a hand in Republican campaigns, from both the inside and outside. For example, he served in Ronald Reagan’s 1980 and 1984 campaigns. By 1986, when TIME ran a cover story about lobbying, the twin lobbying/political-consulting firms he ran with Paul Manafort, Republican strategist Charles Black, former DNC finance chair Peter Kelly and Lee Atwater (of Willie Horton ad infamy) was hailed as “the Slickest Shop in Town.”
~ And it continues.
P.S. I wonder if “lawn parties” was meant as a euphemism, or if it was a blatant statement I’ve not heard in my life experience. What has been shown is that Stone was the kind of person (and couple) to go to sex parties. Hints, again, of the psychological projection… and sabotage efforts aimed at opponents. ~

No problem, Brian. If you left a filthy dirty comment it probably would have been swept up into my spam folder anyway.
