One-Liner Wednesday — Education

“Education should not be intended to make people comfortable, it is meant to make them think.”

Hanna Holborn Gray, American historian

I wish those Republican lawmakers and conservative parents who insist on banning books and restricting what teachers can discuss in classrooms would think hard about this quote and the purpose of education.

Written for Linda G. Hill’s One-Liner Wednesday prompt.

It should be (and, is, in my mind) true — but not only in philosophical assent or in schools. We have a culture heavily biased toward whoever makes the most money being the better person or most important. Money gets you creature comforts.

Example: The industry execs “are” the important and better people in these situations… because they have more money and can give themselves more money.

I just had an “discussion” with someone last night, about how Trumps friend bought CNN and now with Musk buying Twitter. We all see how wrong we all are. I pointed out too them. They can ban the books, they can buy the media, but we can still see them, lol. I am also aware that a LOT of people are planning on walking away from Twitter, if Musk buys it and puts Trump back there.
