What Were You Thinking?

“What were you thinking when you chose that wallpaper for your bedroom accent wall?” Alan asked his little sister.

“What do you mean?” Carolyn asked. “I had it custom made and it was expensive wallpaper.”

“Then you got ripped off,” Alan said. “It ugly as sin.”

“That’s a rude thing to say,” Carolyn said, “and I’m just going to ignore your rudeness.”

“Your pigeon wallpaper that you used to have on that wall was horrendous,” Alan said, “but not as bad as this wallpaper with a photo of a huge yellowjacket. Who’s the culprit that convinced you to put up this wallpaper?”

“There’s no culprit. It was my choice. I like yellowjackets,” Carolyn said. “They’re colorful and pretty.”

Alan shook his head. “I think there’s something wrong with your appendage, Carolyn. I bet a yellowjacket stung you there.”

“My appendage? What appendage? What are you talking about?”

Alan got a mean smile on his face. “I’m talking about that big, round, ugly appendage that sits right on top of your neck.”

“Your such an ass, Alan,” Carolyn said. “Get out of my bedroom and don’t let the door slam you on your butt on the way out.”

        And because they are hornets, they KEEP stinging. I stepped in a nest when I was maybe 7 or 8? I’ve had a very healthy respect for them ever since.

    If it’s your room and you don’t share it with anyone else you should be able to have whatever decor you like. Even mean insects. It’s nobody else’s business.
