For this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt, Linda G. Hill has given us “happy place,” and asks us to write the first thing that comes to mind when you think of “happy place.”
I used to like to do things, to go places, and to have great adventures. But as I’ve grown older, I have become more of a homebody. I still like to do things and to go places, but I have discovered that, as much as I may have enjoyed whatever it was I was doing or wherever it was I was going, I’m always happy to arrive back at home.
My home is comfortable, and being there is comforting. I have everything I need there, and I can relax and enjoy myself there more so than when I’m off doing things or going places.
The most comfortable and cozy bed is the one I sleep in at home. I love my shower at home. In my family room at home I have a 65-inch high definition TV with a bunch of streaming channels, a comfy leather sofa, a gas fireplace for those chilly nights, and speedy WiFi at home. I have a fully equipped kitchen, stocked kitchen cabinets, a refrigerator with food, beverages, and, most important, a number of pints of Ben & Jerry’s Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream ice cream in my freezer at home.
I’ve got the company of my wife and the companionship my dog at home. My sofa, my ping pong table, my backyard waterfall and scenic view, my laptop, my iPhone with the WordPress app loaded on it, my electric car charging station and our two electric bikes in my garage are all at home.
So, with all that at home, how could my “happy place” be anywhere besides at home?

I find the same now I’m older. Home is where I can just be.

As we grow older, we realize that home is the best place to be.

Nice post! I’m nodding in agreement as I sit here at home in my comfy recliner covered by my cozy comforter writing on my laptop with super speedy WiFi and a mug of hot coffee by my side. You brought it all “home” Fandango. A “sweet” write!

I completely get what you’re saying. Although I was recently on vacation at my brother’s place, I was so happy to get back to my own place, my own food, the two fur kids, comfy furniture (his couch sucks) and the familiar routine of scooping litter and chasing the kitten out of the kitchen. Home is like a warm blanket, wrapped around all of the things and people we love.

Yes it is. An apt description.

I often wish I had the budget to travel more, but I would always be very happy to return home at the end of it all. Nicely done, Fandango!
