Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #187

Welcome to Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge. Each week I will be posting a photo I grab off the internet and challenging bloggers to write a flash fiction piece or a poem inspired by the photo. There are no style or word limits.

The image below is from

For the visually challenged writer, the photo shows a man playing a game of chess and his opponent is extending an arm to move a piece. The opponent is a robot.

If this week’s image inspires you and you wish to participate, please write your post, use the tag #FFFC, and link back to this post. I hope it will generate some great posts.

Please create a pingback to this post or manually add your link in the comments.

I do like this picture. I was talking with Jack about some of the changes I have seen in the department I work in because a job that someone lovely has been faithfully doing for nearly 20 years is now automated, so that person has been made redundant. This sort of sums that ongoing trend.

Yes, we’re all just cogs in an ever changing wheel.

The corporate and commercial world certainly leave you with that impression.

    I think Fan that a robot’s
    Not realistic here
More like a friend’s prosthetic claw
When fin they’ll have with beer

    My source says prosthetic. Sorry……
