Why is it so damn hot?
Why do people still question whether climate change is real?
Why aren’t our leaders taking climate change more seriously?
Why do the fossil fuel companies have such sway over our lawmakers?
Why don’t we take action before it’s too late?
Why are we allowing this to happen to our planet?
Written for Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. Linda’s prompt is “start with why,” and she’s asking us to begin our post with the word “why.”
Because to act means to change, and that’s what certain people are the most afraid of

(a) they don’t think it’s not real, they think it’s not caused by humans
(b) a leader doubles the price of gas to make people drive less. How many votes does that win them?
(c) money
(d) Because it is cheaper, short term, not to. For change to occur, governments have to raise taxes. In increasing numbers, electorates vote for parties who wish to *lower* taxes.
(e) good question. refer to (c)

Why? Well, science fiction stories can sometimes foretell the future. If one likes to read sci-fi, one will take special note in how many future scenarios have the elite living off-planet (space stations, inside asteroids, on moons, etc) while the poor inhabit a dust planet and their jobs are to send supplies up to the elite folks who didn’t give a fleas ass about the planet since the 1960s because they knew all along they wouldn’t be here.

My grandpa used to say humans are individually intelligent, but collectively stupid. I guess maybe the old man was on to something… I’ll have to reflect on that.
